Best scenic route Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen
All the routes from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen are 'the most scenic' as you are in the heart of the Berner Oberland area.
Apart from Interlaken Grindelwald is the largest village in the Jungfrau region that can be reached by car. It can be reached by train as well. The town center is situated along the Dorfstrasse, between the main rail station and the First cable car station, 800 m up the road. Outside of the town center, Grindelwald mainly consists of chalets in hilly meadows, spread out across a pretty large area. The Eiger village of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland lies embedded in a welcoming and green hollow, surrounded by a commanding mountainscape with the Eiger north face and the Wetterhorn.
Lauterbrunnen is a small village in the Lauterbrunnen valley. It's ideally situated for excursions throughout the Jungfrau region. The village is sitting in between the mountain villages Mürren and Wengen, which are the obvious areas for day trips, although the valley itself is very attractive as well. There are lots of opportunities to hike here!
The Lauterbrunnen valley is famous for its 72 waterfalls. There are smaller and larger ones. You'll have to look hard to find all of them, but some are impossible to miss, like the famous Staubbach Fall just outside the village.
Huge rock walls rise up hundreds of meters from the valley floor, particularly on the west side of the village. On the east side you'll find forestry slopes going up to Wengen, and again rock walls. You can see quite some peaks, but not as many as from Mürren, Wengen or Grindelwald because these towns are located at higher altitudes and offer wider views.
My journey between these two beautiful villages is very scenic.

Grindelwald ist neben Interlaken das grösste mit dem Auto erreichbare Dorf der Jungfrau-Region. Es ist auch mit der Bahn zu erreichen. Das Ortszentrum liegt an der Dorfstraße, zwischen Hauptbahnhof und Firstbahn, 800 m die Straße hinauf. Ausserhalb des Ortskerns besteht Grindelwald hauptsächlich aus Chalets in hügeligen Wiesen, die über eine ziemlich grosse Fläche verteilt sind. Das Eigerdorf Grindelwald im Berner Oberland liegt eingebettet in eine einladende und grüne Mulde, umgeben von einer imposanten Bergwelt mit Eigernordwand und Wetterhorn.
Lauterbrunnen ist ein kleines Dorf im Lauterbrunnental. Es ist ideal gelegen für Ausflüge in die ganze Jungfrauregion. Das Dorf liegt zwischen den Bergdörfern Mürren und Wengen, den nahegelegenen Ausflugszielen, obwohl das Tal selbst sehr reizvoll ist. Hier gibt es viele Möglichkeiten zum Wandern!
