I truly believe manufactures have been raising oil change intervals just do more repairs/sell more vehicles since most new cars are so reliable. With Subaru definitely do every 3k synthetic oil changes. If you’re gonna track be paranoid like me probably get oil cooler and change every event depending on amount laps/temps.

There has to be a conspiracy about it because if they make their cars too reliable, then people won't buy any more. It just has to last long enough. I'm sure doing the "manual recommended" oil changes won't hurt the car for a few years, but eventually it's going to catch up. I've also heard some people do an oil change after a track day

@LucasHuang I've heard people defend it by saying oils are better but end of day cheap peace of mind.

Got a dilemma here i'm retired and do around 5000kms per(3000miles)and i am interested in a 2025 Brz sport tech here in Canada .with the lawsuits and the rtv thing would you still buy a BRZ do you find it reliable so far i'm also looking at a MAZDA 3 TURBO 2025 . Thanks

I don't think the word reliable fit in the same sentence of any performance oriented car. I mean, just look at the reputation of Toyota and their reliability but you have the GR Corolla's still blowing up and catching on fire. The RTV issue has been happening since the first generations apparently and I think it's only blowing up now because of Toyota denying warranty for engines blowing up because the owners use it on the track. And then people tracking down what the actual issue is and now everyone is talking about RTV. With that being said the shop that I went to told me after they fixed the RTV now I won't have to check it regularly or anything like that. It would just operate as a normal oil pan. I wish I didn't have to pay for that myself, but I would consider it an easy fix given how great the rest of the car is. From a personal preference standpoint, I would go with a lot of other cars before a Mazda or Hyundai. Even in this category, you have the BRZ, the WRX, the golf lineup, and the Civics. I hope this helps and good luck on what you get.

I have learned over the years that oil NEEDS to be changed before 4k. I do the oil filter every other oil change. They always come out super clean anyway. There are plenty of tests out there to show why running over 5k miles per change is bad. The oil breaks down after 4k. I currently use Valvoline Full Premium Synthetic. 5w30. As always read and follow your cars owners manual.

Except the owners manual sometimes tell people to do it at 10k 😳

SWEET video!! Any plans on upgrading to a short throw shifter? And challenge Jackie Chan in Thunderbolt.
@LucasHuang5 күн бұрын
Thanks! The BRZ already comes with a short throw from the factory. People have said the STI short throw is like less than 10cm difference so I'm not too sure if it's even worth it. lol I have that movie downloaded... still gotta watch it

lol @ replacing the GTI with a BRZ. I've been with you for a few years now because of the GTI content , but I figured something was up after you hadn't posted in a while, I didn't think that it was this bad. I'll make sure to check back for the eventual trade-in video on the BRZ.
@LucasHuang5 күн бұрын
Thanks for sticking around all this time! Yeah, swapping the GTI for the BRZ is definitely a change, lol. Appreciate you checking in-I’ll make sure to make that trade-in video a good one if it ever happens! 😅🚗
