Check this before changing your hydrostatic axle!

A mower with a hydrostatic axle (automatic) is very comfortable! Unfortunately they tend to wear out and get weak if it is not serviced or run harder than specified. But, there could be other things that influence the speed and power of your mower and in this video I show you what to check before repairing your hydrostatic axle.

Excellent explanation and demonstration. Thank you. I've worked through all of these steps over the years on my 322T except the bypass valve. I had trouble that seemed to always improve for a while when I replaced the belt. I wound up with aftermarket belt and different spring that was sold for a reclining chair - after replacing pulleys and such as well. OEM springs would wear and break at the hooks.

Thank you! I have gathered the info during a couple of years and it seems like some people repair the hydro too soon! The spring seems to be a big problem on newer riders, I can’t understand why!

@@NilsKall I think its probably related to poor design of the tensioner arm. It doesn't control well the orientation of the tensioner pulley relative to the other two pulleys, and the direction of the spring force isn't ideal. My spring bounces all over the place when it is running.

@@murky2502 hmm, strange. I have heard that there is a redesigned spring from Husqvarna available.
