PSA please take note of all the comments below. We are not Asal haters, but love the sport which always been played in a fair and gentlemanly manner until now. Nearly every ball into the backhand corner, Asal moves directly to the T so Hesham has to delay his movement to the ball or run round Asal. How Hesham actually made it to 10-10 in the 5th is a miracle in itself but his frustration was clear. PSA please stop this now before many of us switch off entirely.

If you are surprised why Hesham is going "absolutely bonkers" just pay attention to this defining rally at 9:37 where Asal manages to block Hesham out of every sprint he does corner-to-corner and then Hesham gets penalized with the second conduct warning because he is unable verbalize how it feels to share a court with Asal! That was a theme that ran throughout the match! Due to the refs' inability to spot these moments, these exceptional athletes' careers are at risk. Here is another one 7:49
@davesmith826 Жыл бұрын
I'm astounded that these incidents aren't highlighted by refs. Asal cannot win without impeding his opponents and is the only guy in the top 10 who has to do this as a matter of default to win. No wonder he's hated by all and sundry. Only his deranged father, who bears a lot of the responsibility for raising such a unprincipled sportsman, and his asinine fans love the guy.

At one important point (don't remember the exact) Asal reached behind himself, when Hesham was going to return a drive to the backhand corner, and actually held him for a brief millisecond. This is sick! Hesham reviewed it and fortunately it was overruled from no let to a yes let, but the video ref should be able to read the situation and see the hold and give a straight conduct stroke and award Hesham the point. The bottom is now reached as I see it. Asal has gotten the game to go in the direction he always wanted it. Messy with tons of cheating and blocking and holding

@duelmasterblaze4106 Жыл бұрын
that 10-10 in the 5th was shocking from Asal
@shawnpeh9609 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely dirty tactics from Asal at crucial points of the game. 0-2 down at 5th set with that dirty left leg. No one moves like that unless you' deliberately want to impede your opponent. He was bending to the side and front for a drop shot, but lunge backwards to block the line of Hesham. At 10-10 5th set, Asal impeded every single diagonal run of Hesham just to throw him off a little each time. If you play a drop and volley drive the opponent's return, any decent squash player will clear the line as much as possible so that the opponent has a clear diagonal run to the ball. If your length is good enough, you will deservedly win the point. You don't win the point by blocking an opponent's access to the ball. (9:45 & 3:24) Another blatant AND CONSISTENT way Asal cheats is after he hits the ball, he will move towards wherever the opponent is to restrict the opponents movement so that the opponent is FORCED to move in a semi circle to clear Asal first (3:26, before being able to move towards the ball. This totally affects the ability for any player to burst to retrieve. Plus he will put in a stiff left arm to further impede the opponent. This is clearly evident during the let ball at 10-10 in the fifth (1:19:25 on full video). Hesham was not complaining during the early part of the game because he was just trying to retrieve every ball without being distracted by Asal's dirty tactics. Plus he has a short and adjustable swing that needs little preperation so he could minimize the impact of Asal's tactics. But ANY decent squash player will tell you that these little impediments definitely throw you off a few points a game. Disgusting and unprofessional way to win points/games. And please don't give me the crap about being jealous because he is Egyptian. A majority of the best players in the past decade are Egyptians who most squash fans love. Ashour, Shabana, El Sherbini, El Weleily. There are right ways and wrong ways to win a squash game. These tactics will destroy squash.

His reaction to getting a nose in the back of the head was farcical. You'd think it was a racket or a ball, but in Asal's deranged mind any contact with him is a war crime while he is free to block, impede, push, trip and hit anyone he plays. He's a flat-track bully and like all such men a coward. One day he will get his comeuppance - likely when he's off court and makes the mistake of picking on the wrong person at the wrong time.
