When I was going to public school there was thing boy and he had the biggest crush on me from 1st to 4th grade. He would always give me notes and chase me around the playground trying to catch me. One time he did and kissed me on the cheek. I was getting really tired of it when one day, in 3rd grade, he gave me a note that said, "Do you love me, do you wanna be my friend? And if you do, well then don't be afraid to take me by the hand... I think this is how love goes, check yes or no." There were boxes for the "yes" and "no" and he drew a heart with our initials in it. When I got home I slammed it on the table in front of my mom and said, "Fix this!" because I didn't like him back. She read the note and started laughing and showed my dad. She kept the note and last year I found it and threw it away.

Eventually though we did become friends and I started dressing like him with the shirt tucked into my jeans, a belt buckle, and cowgirl boots. We were actually really good friends and he seemed to chill out on the crush idea. Even all the teachers noticed that we started becoming close because I saw one of them look at me and just laugh to herself. But then, we got into middle school (5th grade) and he started not hanging out with me anymore, so I made new friends (that I would soon find out were not actually friends, but that's a whole other story) and went our separate ways. He grew out of his cowboy phase and became just like every other teenage boy because he started playing football. I was very shocked when I heard that because when we were friends he was a cowboy at heart but I guess people change. After 5th grade my parents decided to home-school me for the rest of school. Since then I have never had a conversation with him. Although my dad is friends with his dad still and I've talked to his dad since then. And I did see one of his other childhood bestfriends (whether they're still friends or not, I don't know) a couple weeks ago at an event and was too shy to talk to him. So yeah, basically, life isn't like you see in the movies.
