Thanks for the video, you just helped me confirm that I have a flipper coil (or diode) shorting out on my Flight 2000, now I can quit messing with wires I can't find a problem with and continuing to pop 7A fuses!

I usually de-solder and use a solder sucker as some times the wires are kind of taught and not much room to play with on some of the wiring. Thanks for the video though I was not sure what setting I needed to test the coils and now I do. I already know the backbox knocker is out of commission as it was totally melted and wires to it were cut. So I know know some place in the board I need to replace some resisters or transistor or what ever it is for the knocker coil.

So if there is good ohms reading then that means the coil should be working 100%?

Thank you so much for these videos. I am a newbie and EVERYONE of these vids are extremely helpful. I am having trouble with my '97 Sega X-Files "superVUK" coil. It sometimes fires much too powerfully. As it happens intermittently it is hard to diagnose (for me.) The main problem is that when it does this it launches the ball past the ramp and it hits the playfield, HARD. It actually leaves divets and in essence is ruining my almost pristine playfield. NOT GOOD. I have tried all of the simple fixes to no avail. After following your video I find that the resistance is at about 3.8 ohms both ways. I am just going to replace the coil as I can not think of another solution. I have seen quite a few posts on this topic for a variety of pins, but none with a solid solution or method of testing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

good, the coil that hits when you take out credit is burning the F104 of the power drive board. I measured the large and small transistors associated with this coil and everything is ok. I already measured the resistance of the coil with the multimeter and this good to coil. I already tried this coil on another pinball machine and it works well without burning the fuse. I've already replaced the power drive board with another and continue to burn the fuse. the flipper machine is a theatre of magic what can be ?

Should youcheck all diodes as well? D o you need to disconnect a leg of each diode to do this?

I have a Whirlwind Pinball. How would I test a three terminal flipper coil FL-11630 with Diodes to determine if they are bad?? I think they got fried when I installed them because I found the correct wiring and when you hit a flipper button, It will blow the fuse in the backbox. If I disconnect the wires, the other flipper coil in the top of the playfield works fine....

Same problem here.. have you tried Pinside?
@av925 жыл бұрын
RobSi I learned that you remove the diodes and test them.. if they are bad, replace the diodes as that is most likely the case which it was for me..
