As Nero, remap the shoot button to the right trigger, and the arm-breaking button to the dpad. Nero is meant to charge up his shots, so it's common in the DMC community to remap his gun button to the trigger so you can have it held down at all times. It's also super common to accidentally break Nero's arms, so just map it to the dpad so you don't hit it by mistake. Lastly- when you see that bright white flash of Nero's weapon hitting the enemy, that's the timing to rev the sword to make the next attack stronger and faster. If you swing at nothing, the timing to rev the sword is the middle of the animation. When in combat, it's when the sword makes contact, which is that white hit flash. Have fun with DMCV, it's a great game!

Fun fact that I'm probably late to, whenever "Starring: The DMC Crew" is on screen and you can see another playable character kicking ass off screen that's another player in their own game controlling them while on a different mission (although it may either be ghost data or npc controlled when you can't actually connect to someone, like in offline mode for example). Modders used this function to allow for the 2 players to fight one another, turning DMC5 into the (afaik) first DMC fighting game. I don't know how much Huggbees and Company enjoying fighting games but I bet that could be an interesting watch should y'all be reading this 👀

Actually that's just the opposite. When it's another player it will say that player's username. If you're offline or there's no player data the game will use an NPC bot and say "the DMC crew"

I love DMC. But getting beginner players into advanced Play is a nightmare because the game doesnt explain important mechanics and so you have to resort to using outside resources (like KZbin videos) on how to play Dante for example. Like come on.

It just means the game is accessible to new players, while vets and folks seeking more of a challenge can go as deep as they want into the technical stuff. Low floor, high ceiling, yeah?

@amberhernandez I see your point. You wouldn't want to overwhelm new players with all this new information on their first playthrough. But, it's bad game design when you need to look for outside resources because the game doesnt explain it's, and keyword here, very IMPORTANT game mechanics, namely Jump Cancelling. A series staple throughout the franchise and yet it not once is it explained anywhere in ANY of the DMCs, including DMC5.
