In Malaysia (I don't know about other place), what we normally do is to squirt a bit of oil or water, either one on the bearing part of component that we suspected have been worn out. If the before and after sound is very different and so obvious, we got the culprit. If nothing different, then we move on these step like on these video. I just replaced my alternator few months ago using that trick. The noise was so confusing and loud between steering pump, aircond compressor clutch bearing and alternator. Luckily my little brother who used to be a car mechanic told me about this trick. Hopefully this trick works for you guys too.

Yup that's it lmao thank you... I recently replaced the valve cover gasket, ac compressor, ignition coils, spark plugs that looked like the original ones . Also replaced fuel injectors on my 2008 Chevy trailblazer 4.2 and every time I ever do something like that something else I didn't replace will go out every signal friggin time never fails lmao.

Your videos are some of the better one to watch. No bullshit and dream tools the average person can't afford and real cars with rusted bolts and dirt. CHEERS

I use a mechanic stethoscope to pinpoint noises. Saves allot of wrench work.

Quick question is the pulley that is attached to the pump supposed to spin both ways? Mine goes freely in one direction, going the other way though it stops occasionally. Also the other pulley not connected to the pump supposed to move as well? Mine does not

Sounded like the alternator bearing from the pulley

That's what Mechanic's Stethoscope from Harbor Freight is for, $3.99 before coupon, works wonders to find bad pulleys

I know this video is old, but every time when I turn my steering wheel the power steering pulley clutch moving and it makes a loud squealing noise. And I don't think the power steering pump pulley is supposed to quit moving when you turn your steering wheel. My suggestion is probably a new power steering pump

Should the pulley move in and out slightly?

Lateral play is a sign of worn bearings.

I had no clue my power steering pump want out I didn't have any problems at all no squealing no problem turning the wheel nothing until the belt fell off when the water pump went out! Fixed that got a new belt and it kept slipping off the pully checked it and the pully has movement really sucks cause my power steering is hard to get at so shop it is 300 bucks to fix ugh
