I think it's the sign for older brother. Luckily in Japan it doesn't mean anything, though some young people know it from movies.

Thank you so much for the clear signing. I'm trying to learn JSL, but I'm learning from a book, and sometimes am not sure what the sign is supposed to look like. I have a second book with a dvd but I haven't had much time to watch it. Usually I study my sign language book on the bus or train.

I don't know if it's any different for JSL, but I heard that would probably be okay, as you long as you're consistent and always use your left as your dominant signing hand
