Checking Out a Soybean Field Planted with a Drill and Row Crop Planter. Farmer started planting the field, row crop planter broke down half way through and with the weather forecasters threatening rain the farmer switched to the grain drill to finish the field.

Cool. I'm getting ready to go bale hay with the newholland T6050 (tractor) and the br7090 (bailer) P.S. You should get a windscreen for your cameras they don't cost that much but get rid of wind noise

In Kentucky we plant on 15 inch beans with a row crop planter just split the corn rows form 30

You actually gain more bushel per acre from seed drill planting vs the row crop planter. Been planting beans, sorghum with a seed drill for years. Don't get as tall but, still always get more per acre from a drill.

I've drilled them, planted in 30's, 15's and 20's. I planted what would be 7.5's by making two passes, I've even done the 60" corn thing with beans as a companion crop. None of them failed, but the best yield I ever had with the two passes with a 15" precision planter, at high 60's bba. That's non GMO, organic, planted into standing green covers. The lower demand for soybeans in the organic marketplace has relegated it to dual crop status, so I plant it after winter wheat harvest, and I get 30ish bba. Always over 30, but never breaks 40. Which is fine, because it's extra money and we're growing 4 ancient grain varieties of wheat that produce about 40 bba, but they sell for $50/bushel.

I bought a small farm in sc, I'm doing more food plots then anything, I need to buy something, either a drill or planter, great video by the way, I've watched it over and over, first video I've seen using both, Ty for that, if it was you, what would you buy, tired of broadcasting by hand.

Check your county website, usually they have a seed drill for rent, my county has one for rent at $10 an acre

Here in Kentucky we put our beans on 15" rows or drill them instead of plant them on 30" rows like in your field

I can't say that I've seen 15" used were I live yet, mostly either 30" +/- rows or drilled.

i have a old john deere grain drill i got from the neighbor it has drag chains. i know he planted beans with it and he pulled a cultipacker behind it. i have a double roller cultipacker should i pull that behind it or will it push the beans to deep????

I don’t think you would want a double row.

I did not like the drill side as soybeans were not consistent, but missed spots. Rather run the planter twice. Cover crop would help retain moisture. But then we do not know that farmers issues.

It'll be interesting, row crop beans definitely look a lot better, not sure that means they produce better/more though.

Shawn Blackburn subscribe to my channel and remind me at harvest and I'll let you know populations and harvest results. It's so wet here in Michigan this year I'm putting brushes in my 6row planter and gonna try this 30" spacing. If that dosent work I'm going to just make hand loads for my 12gauge with soybeans in them and blast them into the ground.lol
