That farmall A was designed to give 'cultivision' when cultivating. Allis Chalmers had a model G that was rear engine with just a frame and you could see all the rows and cultivator shoes. Those saw table tops are still just surface rust that can be sanded back and oiled/waxed and be fine.

Have you considered spray on bed liner for the inside of the feed wagons? The rubberized ones would definitely seal it up, and they are easy to apply even with a small paint roller.

Well looks like you have some plans on getting the needed equipment, good luck with that. Back in the 70's I ran both a 24T and 336 John Deere balers. The last few years I've used a 338 JD baler, the 24T made the best looking bales out of the three, less output, but nice bales. I hope you get what you are planning for at the auction. Good luck with the feed wagon repair. I hope you have a good week ahead, praying for rain for all the area in need too.

I alway watch the auctions up there but I always get in trouble when it comes to auctions to many things I think I need at the time the only thing on your list that I need is fork extensions. If you ever need any extra pallets for anything I have several from where I work you could have I also most of them are 42x48 and 40x48 and 36x48 and 36x36 I use pallets for everything since I have forks for my tractor makes it handy for moving my loader implements around with the forks and without having to hook them all up and to keep from gouging the ground I also have extra large pallets that some machines came in on for now anyway

That really old John Deere bailer looks like it's about as old as your New Holland wire bailer. The newer John Deere bailers look to be from the 1980's and 1990's. The 347 definitely is. My dad had a 327 bailer he bought new in 1981. It was from the same series as the 347 at the auction. There was the 327, 337 and 347 square bailers. The 327 dad had was an excellent bailer. Never had a problem with it. The only issue it had was because it was the smallest capacity of the series, it was prone to jam in really heavy windrows but you just had to take it slow or you'd jam it and risk shearing the flywheel safety bolt. That 347 would probably go through just about anything. The Farmall A and the smaller Farmall Cub had the offset axles to make row crop cultivating easier. They both had implements that attached under the tractor rather than behind. You could easily watch your implement and line up the wheels between the rows without having to look around the machine while working between the rows. Also, they had a sickle bar mower that attached mid-tractor so you didn't have to twist around in the seat as you cut hay. They were a real good design. Some of the old John Deere tractors I think also had a model of similar design as the Farmall Cub and "A".

The 346 John Deere baler looked like it was in pretty good shape. My family ran one just like it on our ranch through the mid 80s. We ran around 8,000 bales per year. If you are interested in it you need to check and make sure the fly wheel doesn’t have any play, that would indicate that the bearings in the gear box are worn out.

Check your local law requirements for storing more than 100 gals of fuel, you may have to put in a concrete spill pad, there are also site requirements, and the other is your insurance, some cases the expense of setup and yearly inspections can be more than the amount of fuel you use. For us it was actually more cost effective to use truck bed tanks

Good luck on the auction . Based on the problems you've had with your NH baler, I'd sure give a couple of those JD balers a second look. I like string bales better than wire but that's me. Baling wire is definitely more useful than twine after it's used, but the string is a lot easier on the hands and the excess string can be burned. One thing I like about your 25 HP tractor is that it keeps running when you get off it. My NH shuts down. It's a bit of a nuisance, but it starts easily so it isn't horrendous, at least at this point in it's life Good video!

I've got a few questions. Directed specifically at these type of channels such as this one. Quite a number of channels have popped up over several years with this idea of a simple homestead live off the land mentality. First question.....Is this a save money by doing your own work, raising animals, garden, and repairing everything yourself without outside labor even skilled labor in an attempt to be self sufficient? Second question.........I love how many channels including this one do many things themselves. No outside labor. I mean, I'm seeing homes, endless acres, super premium products bought that I know cost multiple tens of thousands of dollars......... I mean farmers (I guess their called homesteaders now) buying multiple fancy gizmos with a rundown on the features. Garages that have more features and square footage than the four walls that they sleep in at night. LOL! With clothing that cost more than a whole days pay for some. Am I missing something here. Im being honest. I loves these kind of channels but I'm starting to get the gut feeling......(and I always trust my gut)......that these channels are full of just advertisements for these companies that give their products free as long as you say something good about it. I'm serious, I just don't see. Am I wrong? Being in debt for homes and land and barns and equipment. Is this normal now? Im just trying to understand how going into debt like this is being self sufficient. Im not downing this channel or any other. Evan and Becca are great. Im just trying to understand.

I bet on a go cart once and I should have walked away. This one had a snowmobile engine, brakes and they worked. I unloaded it, put gas in and held on, till I just about smacked a tree head on and sliding. Whomever built it and this idiot that bought it, should have had the brain looked at. I drove it the one time and it sat. I couldn't get the battery out, it was welded in and at that time I didn't have a welder.

Given the likely hay shortage this winter you may want to let sections of the lawn around the buildings and house grow so you can graze or cut and bale. We used to put temporary electric fence around the buildings as an organic 'weed wacker', sheep worked better than goats. That ditch under the fence looks like a woodchuck/groundhog -- they may be scoping out a good place to dig under the house or sheds.
