I basically stopped farming because of lazer because it’s so much fun. My favorite thing just has to be the adjustable DT because, I’m no speed demon, but being able to speed it up enough that I can have fun is super nice and refreshing.

i recently redownloaded lazer to try again and i agree with you on the performance, the feel of lazer has always felt a bit "off" like i can exactly say why but it did. But recently it feels almost exactly like stable, the UI changes and everything are great but gameplay at its core is what matters most and lazer is finally reaching a point where i wouldn't mind if it replaces stable in a year or so.

Another major feature is built in touch for all touch screen devices. I play osu! lazer on a laptop that has touch and some gamemodes like osu! mania and sentakki require 2 or more fingers, and recently a toggle to turn on touch and turn on or off the cursor with touch was added. Definetly my favorite update to Lazer

I really hope there's on option to keep the menus mostly the same as stable. I really think they really got the song select nearly perfect and unironically that will be a reason I wouldn't switch to lazer

the entire game is open source, you can literally code in any interface you want, and as long as your mods don't change gameplay mechanics I don't see any reason why your scores wouldn't be accepted.

i don't think that lazer running on older pcs is any merit at all. its a circle clicking game. what should be noted tho is how the game runs at like 1/3 of the fps of the stable version

i would like the option of having a compact mod menu that fits all the mods nicely on the screen like we have in standard (but obviously with more mods). not like the one they had before where you had to scroll down, but one with all the mods right there on screen. it would cut down on mod selection time drastically once you get used to it. i would also like to have a text box or something similar open when you click a speed changing mod where you can type in the speed change with numbers instead of sliders as that would also cut down on mod selection time. like i said, one that opens when you press it and not one that you have to manually press, while still allowing for ignoring and selecting other mods.

They just added a mod presets list, imo its a more versatile way to make everything more 'compact'

osu lazer's lookin pretty cool so far, but in terms of mods, i'm not sure how I feel about the dt speed customization, I think it's a cool feature but in terms of actual score submission it doesn't sit with me right. I might change my mind about that in the future though

the thing with mods is that some are completely broken in terms of score multiplier (like RX or AP who no longer give 0.00x score multiplier) this making some mods combination extremly overpowered (quick example : the 11* Galaxy Collapse map just got a few scores that are over 1.000.000)

osu!lazer's UI/UX is easily the best I have ever seen in any open-source software, or software in general. Yeah I get that it's a video game and not productivity software but goddamn GIMP and Kdenlive could take some pages out of this.

as a linux user, ozulazer is what I'm familiar with the most and seeing the changes is very much exciting for me i haven't touched osu in quite some time, just getting back into it now

The performance part is so important, i remember thinking i can play osu! properly some years ago yet one time per song it would just drop frames on my modest computer and boom combo lost xD

I admire how much peppy values smoothness of gameplay. The osu! team ended up finding and reporting a bug to dotnet (Microsoft) devs, discussing it with them on and off for a good couple months, just because a couple users reported some stutters.

@@Kris-od3sj it happens because c# is bad programming language for very smooth performance for the games, as it has garbage collector which decides when it will clear cache and memory. In c++ you should manage memory by yourself in the code, which means developing in c# is faster but lacks of stability, and these garbage collector problems (as much I have read on books) are hard to manage (as much i know there is a way to change the code but I is highly not recommend, in most scenario banned) And these problems will only solve microsoft's c# language developers, that is only hope, which means every further update will take more time or even be more dissaster

@@Kris-od3sj lets compare other games on my laptop config: amd cpu 6c 12th 4ghz (on all threads and throttling will go to 3 ghz) 16 gb ram ddr4 3200mhz gtx 1650 4 gb ddr6 vram I use 900 res (by default its 1080) games: cod cold war - high/medium, mp stable 60fps, zombies 60fps (if I decrease global ilumination) bf 4 max stable 60fps on mp 64 players borderlands 3 high/medium 60fps minecraft (without sodium or optifine) last played on 1.18 render dis 16 chanks stable 60fps osu! lazer every second stutters and lags, sometimes freezes on a second (happens rarely) tried a month ago

Switched to osu!(lazer) for over half a year now, and it honestly offers so much more than osu!(stable) that it's honestly feels more fun. I only occasionally go back to "stable" to farm pp and not make my ranking go down by much, but other than that I have no reason to switch back to osu!(stable).

Well I started to play recently osu!, thanks to You, and I saw like video with introduction to laser. I was like damn this looks much better than regular osu. Fully switched to lazer 2 weeks ago, and I can't go back anymore, no more beatmap loading bugs, runs as smooth as butter, lots of fun mods, PIE CHART GOT ADDED, and all the 3rd party programs to adjust the difficulty and speed of the maps aren't needed anymore. You can't earn PP yet, but that doesn't matter, cuz there are the leaderboards and to much to try out and get good at, to the point where PP hasn't even crossed my mind yet. Hope more people make the swap, to get a wider variety of multi lobbies. Also multi lobbies slap, no more host rota needed, because it is in the game by default. Only cons for me personally: Collections take some times to get used to if you have more than 5, after completing a map and the score screen is somewhat confusing at first.

osu!lazer is so much nicer for me on mobile now. I recently found out how to get skins into it, also the latest update allows multi-touch, so I can stream and hit bursts better. Also, in 2022, they made taiko playable (and in latest version you can change where you need to tap for red or blue) I wonder if they'll chance mania or catch in the future for mobile support as well. Love osu!lazer

I'm so excited for this to finally be out!!! I really hope the song select bg won't be blurred anymore and the info could be put in that empty space on the top left though, tbh. It takes up so much space from the global lb. On stable you could see 10 and now it's like 5. Idk. I still want the default skin to be legible though. It's confusing for me even with the amount of osu! I've played.

Touch controls for all 4 modes are going to come at some point, mobile platforms just have a lower priority. Taiko very recently got touch controls. It looks so fun to play that I think I'll start playing taiko on my phone ^^ After they inprove mobile performance

tbh lazer wasn't good for me last time I tried, it lagged often and even when it didn't my aim was just too much worse (idk why) compared to stable, missing everywhere like I was using a different area or something. Hope it gets better when it becomes the only option...

I just downloaded osu lazer but I have a question. In Osu, I get about 350 fps but in osu lazer, I only get 30-40 fps and its unplayable. Also, My Z key barley works. My x key works just fine but the Z key literally never works

The song select ui is pretty bad, even the new ui still holds the same issues. Only being able to see 5 leaderboard spots with the default zoom just goes to show how cluttered the screen is. The background is blurred and shoved into a corner, so i can't recognise a beatmap from peripheral vision anymore when scrolling fast using arrow keys which really sucks. I'd say just remove the picture in the top left entirely, unblur the main one and shove the information there instead, would greatly improve the screen space and clutter. why does it need to stretch to 50% of the screen when stable barely uses 30%? This is my no 1 problem with lazer right now, excluding lack of pp scores.

@@danieldogadajev1545 As in : literally creating a copy of the maps folder. This is a really dumb approach I never liked. I haven't seen an option to make Lazer read my stable build's songs.db file or make Lazer fetch maps directly from my stable client without having to clone it.

@@danlipcan55 yeah, I wonder why they can't just implement a cache system so you can share the folder... The game making a physical copy of my songs is kinda bad imo. The good thing is that the process' a lot faster now. That said, the game's still being worked on, so it's expected that the folder structure's gonna be weird. I have free space to do this, but it'd be cool if I could just not do this hahahaha
