I installed one of these. It worked great, until it was in the sun for about an hour. Touch panel overheated and would not work until I reset it! Call the company and they said it should not be located in the sun. I switched to a button version and the problem was solved. It does not talk about this problem anywhere on the box.

Is the bolt tapered? I can see the auto retract being a problem in our winters where the door fit changed slightly in the different seasons.

I would consider putting that on our pole barn. Highly visible door, low use, low security, and I occasionally need to let someone in well I'm not home. The plyers are to fix the tailpiece. Jason went rainman on the bitting... lol He read it like a book.

A good review of a lock I wouldn’t recommend. Still, knowing what’s out there is a good thing for a working locksmith. If we can figure out what’s wrong over the phone, then it makes the service call go way smoother. Thanks Jason!

Save your money for the cordless Milwaukee Angle Grinder. But any Kwikset on clearance I would buy because customers love their Kwikset locks.

Wyze just finally got their lock controller things back in stock for good. I'd like to get one but it seems like a lot of people have had issues with them. I'm not sure it it's the lock or their wifi system that's the issue, though. I thought something was wrong with one of my wyze bulbs but it turns out it was my wifi. As soon as I switched it to the guest network, it worked fine. So I'm tempted to pick one up, still. I'd love to be able to come home and my lock realize I'm home and unlock automatically. That'd be great! I see your wyze cam! 👍

I don’t understand the emphasis on how a key is cut. Thieves don’t pick locks. 98% of them are opportunists. Also, that keypad was most likely made by a completely different company altogether that licensed the Kwikset branding. Edit: I feel like I need to make a video about some of the things mentioned in this video. Specifically chamfered chambers, spools, bitting, and “anti drill” pins.
@selock4 жыл бұрын

so going on the ever popular tired argument of “99.99999% criminals don’t pick locks” doesn’t apply to the vast number of people, old and young, who have the knowledge and resources nowadays to do exactly that? While they aren’t the “shady sketchy criminal with a little face mask sneaking around McMansions and picking locks in the dead of night” there are many of who have the ability to go into mom and dads room or the liquor room etc etc and they have watched plenty of BB & LPL and know that kwikset lock won’t be any trouble at all. No, they aren’t the typical 98% of common household opportunistic smash and grabs but you cannot sit there and say people aren’t doing it. Two different types of “crimes”

@@selock I live and work in a city with over 7 million people. The number of break ins where windows are broken or doors are kicked far exceed the number of break ins where a lock was picked. Of all people, you as a locksmith, should know that watching a video of how to pick a lock doesn't make it easy or even give you the knowledge and ability to do it. Is it possible? Sure. However, it is exceptionally uncommon and by the time someone even gets into a lock, they will have been spotted or the homeowner would have noticed. In the middle of the night is possible but again, it's so uncommon for a lock to be picked during a burglary. After 100 years of being in business, this has been the way things are in my city of 7 million plus people.
@selock4 жыл бұрын
Diener Christi the size of your city only increases the percentage of people who do “accidentally access” a locked door for “reasons” Also I mention how well the key is cut because overall it’s just much better to have this bitting compared to 22456 or similar so after a few years the key just pulls out, or macs violation bitting

Glenn Bechtel have you thought about getting that plug follower that has the detent that helps you load them? I have seen a few people mention it works well for some cylinders. Good lighting! Ha :) I also use pointy tip tweezers instead of pinning ones. It really helps to control where along the pin you are
@ken_93594 жыл бұрын
I just bought the EEEZ Loader. I like it because I only use the tweezers to push the pin down after the spring is in. Cost me $28. The indent ball-bearing also keeps the follower in place. Nice tool but expensive.
