Thanks again for another great history lesson on a great firearm.

Many thanks for great review of my antique rifle. Good advice about not disassembling. I learned it the hard way. The Bonnie & Clyde shootout history is interesting. What actually happened went the graves of the five lawmen. What is known is that Arcadia Deputy Oakley borrowed a 35 Remington Model 8 from an Arcadia, La. dentist and by one account was the first to shoot, striking Barrow in the neck, ending the fight before the fireworks made sure.

I have the exact rifle and it’s one of my top three rifles. also made 😂at the end, 1949, it is noticeably heavy with that shrouded spring/barrel yet kicks more than my lighter Savage 99 Model EG in the same .300 Savage caliber. That barrel really slams back in recoil. no recoil pad on mine. In John Boessenecker’s great book on Frank Hamer I believe he says Hamer’s Model 8 was in .25 Remington and kills a couple outlaws with it in gunfights but not for Bonnie & Clyde, of course.
