Hey Landon, I just completed my very first build (stratocaster). Thanks to you and your videos for making it seem possible for someone with fairly limited knowledge to accomplish. It turned out absolutely amazing. The nut slot filing was probably the most stressful part as that's the one that is the hardest to "un-do" if you screw it up, but I just went slow and it all came out perfectly. Love the content, keep going dude!

I picked up a mim player and it is perfect! I’ve read some people have said the fret edges were unacceptably sharp on their guitars, but the neck and fretboard on my guitar are absolutely perfect. First Tele for me and I am VERY IMPRESSED! Just can’t get enough of it! It was advertised as being used mint condition, but I would call it used mint/brand new- still had the Fender stickers and protective clear film on the pickguard, neck pickup, and neck plate. Not a scratch, ding or smudge anywhere! AND it came with a brand new hard shell Gator case, all for the princely sum of $ 450.00! I had been looking for a Tele or Tele copy for a couple years, thinking Sire or Squier or HB, maybe Xaviere because I didn’t think I could afford a real Fender Tele. When I saw this on EBay, I didn’t even bid, I just payed the buy now price. It sounds great as is, doesn’t need any upgrades, I can’t see needing anything more from a Tele

I’ve bought three Player 1s since the Player 2 series came out (Strat SSS, Strat HSH, Tele HH. All in Seafoam Green). I’m one of the weirdos who actually like Pau Ferro. The new Player 2s seem more like an update than an upgrade to me. I do like the tinted necks on the 2s, and the return to rosewood probably does look better with most finishes.

The player 2 tele HH is a better deal for the money. I think the player 2 line kicks ass over the original player series in general. And this standard tele is great, but I would change out the pickups because they sound a bit dull and dark and muddy at least in the bridge. Otherwise, it's a stellar guitar! But the HH version has amazing pickups that are modified Shawbuckers as the stock pickups and they are AMAZING. So if you want to rock machine that you don't have to mod, get the HH. If you want a great single coil tele, get this one and swap pickups. Just my opinion. I went with the yellow HH tele and I love it!

This is a great video and review of the Fender Player II Telecaster. Aside from Fender Stratocasters being one of my all time favorite electric guitars, I also love Fender Telecasters as well. Otherwise, this is amazing right here.

At Sweetwater you can pick a guitar by weight, I chose a 6 lb 13oz one, but yeah still kinda heavy. Loved everything but the bridge pickup.. was a little muddy. Swapped in a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster, happy camper now.

I have tried a bunch of these Player IIs in Long and Mcquade and they all seem very decent. Like you were saying they are all a little heavy. No brainier to get one of these OR get a good price on a cheaper Player 1.

I bought the player 2 HH also and it's magical. Better value than this in my opinion based on quality of pickups. I absolutely LOVE the humbuckers on the HH that come stock, but the single coil version sound muddy and dark and lack clarity. I would have to spend another 200 to swap out new pickups on this model.

I agree 100% with your take on the Squier Strato O Sonic (fast becoming the favorite in the fleet) But you dissed my beloved HB TE 52 after confirming its full Teleness and great tone and looks ... She can' help it if the goofy North American Ash (from what I understand Mid West US... ) isn't dried and ... weighs a ton . I sit, and use a Bass strap on mine ... Need light ??? HB TE 62 is your answer. The Fender I'm sure is nice. But it is a reaction to Sire's T7, and still costs $200 more ...

Looks good! I like the improvements in the Player II Teles (eg tint, rosewood board and vintage tuners) and I'm partial to both the Blue and Green versions. Mainly though I'm looking forward to the Nashville rosewood board version in a few months. Hopefully they swap out the noiseless pups for good old noisy singles, that was a deal breaker for me last time.

I love that work station desk; being retractable makes it great for a whole Lotta stuff. I own a Mexcan made Fender Jazz bass circa 1990. Is it as cool as my 67 Jazz bass? Well in a word.......no. But it is still a solid player. Many of the production managers and Luther's in Mexico come from a long line of guitar players and builders. There should be no stigma attached to any of the instruments produced at Fender's Mexican production faclity........like that very first Tele you got and have wisely kept in your collection.

Fender greens and blues look different, interchange, depending on the computer's color palette settings. My Tele Pro II Mystic Green...and even some green/blue LSL's look bluish/greenish (off) depending on computer you're using. This can be an issue.... I let vendors know when their colors seem 'off'....so that they caveat their posting to warn potential buyers to consider the color carefully.

Since you got the one with the dark fretboard, don't forget it marks (I hope) the end of pau ferro in favor of the darker and more attractive actual rosewood. The pale brown of the pau ferro never looked great.

The last telecaster I had was a mim Baja and I just recently ordered a player 2 and the player 2 feels a thousand dollars cheaper than the Baja. It’s too light for me and the pickups are not very good for my liking. Oh well lol

I just love how fender just tries to be fender. what i really hate about the affordable guitars that all other companies seem to be making now is this idea that what everyone wants is a session guitar. Look, its a les paul, and a tele, and a strat, and a jazzmaster. it is like some cheezy infomercial. "Thought you needed 4 guitars????!!! Introducing the REVSTAR!!! I would say yes. I don't like the 12 radius on the plus. I am not big on locking tuners either unless it's a Jazzmaster or Gretsch. And most importantly, I HATE the noiseless pickups on the plus models. They are not true single coils and sound inauthentic to me. Also, they are not at all noiseless as I had one and sold it. It's a little less noisy but just a little. Not worth taking away the single coil bite on better pickups. I would go with the player 2 tele, then buy Brad Paisley "Labrea" pickups to swap out for the same money as the plus. Those pickups are absolutely STELLAR. Then you have a great looking, feeling tele with amazing pickups for the same price.

Each to their own. Silver nickel is by far the most common metal for fretwire. If you like big chunky frets, then buy a guitar with jumbo frets. I have an Am Pro II tele and a MIM old standard with low frets that I think play extremely well.
