Checking out Voiceplay's version of Be Prepared and I wasn't

Nobody was prepared for this one 😄 ETA: Mykal is one of VoicePlay's founding members, from waaaay back when they were called 4 The Love--before Scott Porter joined, even. I'm not personally familiar with his other work, but I do know he's a Grammy nominee. He made an appearance in VP's cover of Just Sing.

​@@ThalesMusicCorner when you're watching Just Sing, in that screen near the end where all the guest vocalists show up, two of the vocalists hit really high notes. The first one is Elizabeth Garozzo, and the second, whom a lot of people miss, is Mychal Kilgore! His voice is astonishing, isn't it?

Mikal Kilgore is one of the 4 founding members 1997- 2002 when Mykal, geoff, Layne and Earl were "4thelove". They were a barbershop quartet. In 2000 they changed the name to 4:2:Five when Scott Porter joined as their beatboxer. Mykal left for a very successful career in Broadway. And still going strong. He was in their video " Just Sing". But hasn't together with them since he left.

Geoff was their beatboxer/bass 1997-2000. 2003 Layne took over as beatboxer.

Although the initial reaction to this song can be described a 'chilling', I maintain that seeing VoicePlay preform is akin to retrieving a cozy blanket, fresh and warm from the dryer, and wrapping it around your soul on an otherwise chilly evening...😊

I was so excited to hear VoicePlay do this. Then I saw VoicePlay do this twice and then you (first reactor today)! You can see Mykal in VP's Just Sing. Mykal was one of the founders before taking off for Broadway - great to see him. I love this version of this - lord, VoicePlay just gets better and better.

You sure it was Geoff who added the captions for this one? Layne did the entire arrangement and video production for this one, so it wouldn't surprise me if Layne was the one who uploaded it and added the captions. It would be like Layne to completely and totally take the piss out of Geoff.

I was pretty sure you were going to be the first reactor to put out your video and I was not disappointed. Geoff makes a terrific Scar doesn’t he? Generally when they have a guest from out of the area they’ll usually do two videos but not release them one after the other. I heard rumors that they will be featuring Mykal in another one. He, together with Cesar, really turned up the sass in this one. It was fun to see Cesar and Mykal interact in the behind-the-scenes. With their flair for dramatics and mischief I’d say they were probably kindred souls.

And Cesar was probably the only one who had not ever met Mykal before! Not sure about Eli, but since he knew the others from High School competitions, he had most probably met him back then, too.

normally I check out the PotF Mondays but now checked this one. and boy I was not disappointed. I need to check these guys out some more. As high as Earl's voice is, when Mykal was part of the founding group, Earl was Tenor 2 and Mykal was Tenor 1. The guys have promised we'll be seeing more of Mykal again, soon. Still recommend that one watches VP and Geoff videos with captions on. In this one, you missed Geoff's roar/growl being "Meow" in the text. 🤣🤣
