Michael Kamen was a genius. However apparently the film's director, Singer, did NOT want him hired and reports emerged of fierce disagreements and butting of heads between the two on the scoring stage with Kamen being forced to scrap parts of his score - and a considerable amount of thematic content - and rewrite it on the spot with Singer unwilling to accept such a dynamic musical presence as Kamen had originally written. We can only wonder how the score would have turned out if Kamen was trusted and given full creative licence to do the thing he was good at.
@theholy_grialll0073 жыл бұрын
So that’s why the album tracks are different than the film’s
@ninjasniperproductions44763 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the one who has full creative control over how the music should sound (on-screen only, soundtrack release is a lot different unless the composer gives up or has passed away during the process of creating the score) is the director of the film or the producers (editors have a say in it too, with their way of syncing up moments to music that don't fit in at all only to make it work somehow after a while). Singer may be a bit stubborn in his direction, but that's his job to do so, he is the director. Guillermo del Toro wanted Danny Elfman for Hellboy 2 (despite Marco Beltrami's more iconic score being a better fit, but still under the direction of Guillermo, the producers and editor), he got him but after Elfman's creative downhill slope into musical burnout (or Elfman got too much freedom or Guillermo liked it that much) or what sounds like it, bar some actual beautiful pieces within the soundtrack. Unfortunately in the film industry or any industry, the director, producer and editor are the ones who call the shots when it comes to their choice of music, despite their lack of musical knowledge or taste.

@@ninjasniperproductions4476 This is why John Williams has such good shit. He's just allowed to do whatever what he wants
@ninjasniperproductions44762 жыл бұрын
@@LeSobaMask Unfotunately for him, JJ Abbrahams told him to remake old musical pieces from the Original Trilogy and turf the new stuff from the film. If John Williams did have full creative control over his music in Rise of Skywalker, we would have heard Duel of the Fates again. Apparently John Williams recycled a musical moment from his score in Amistad for Revenge of the Sith, it was used in the film when Obi-Wan and Anakin were fighting to the death (forgot what the track was called in Revenge of the Sith). Just a little fun fact, it's kind of cool when composers leave in easter eggs or re-use their old work and give it a new identity in their score.

I love this theme. I think it represents them well. Because they were still outsiders, they weren’t celebrated hero’s yet. X2 gave them that theme, more heroic/typical superhero sounding. I read this comment in a video of that famous chess scene at the end of the first film: "The fact that Erik still plays Charles in chess despite the latter being a psychic shows how Erik knows Charles wouldn't cheat. A detail I didn't think about before." And I added: This makes total sense. It's as if the chess match between them was a test of trust. Since, clearly, Charles could read Erik's mind to predict the plays, but he doesn't. Drawing a parallel in their real-life chess match between the cause of mutant coexistence or war with humans. Simply, brilliant.

I like to describe it as an unpolished gem. It's easily my favorite in the series. It's about the characters above all else. It could have been better, of course, giving Cyclops and Storm some more plot focus, but what it did focus on, it did it very well. The music, the acting, all top notch.
