Singapore has seen a boom in populations of otters and house crows in the last few years. These otters are excellent at catching food, but the crows have slightly more mischievous methods for sourcing their dinner.

It just amazes me that Singapore managed to restore/preserve their ecological balance so that otters can live in the water near the city. Can’t imagine the same in my city. It’s so unbelievably beautiful!

Otter don't survive just anywhere, they need a natural water source for food, they prefer fish or seafood, we have river and ocean otter here. Someone's pond with fish in it will do just fine too. The koi in Vancouver's Classical Chinese Garden were decimated by an otter that kept coming back, and that's right downtown in the city. The otter became known as "The Godf---otter"

There are a few otter channels on youtube, cheifly Loutre, that feature baby otters. When the babies first get put in the water, even though they can touch bottom, they kind of freak out and peep a lot and try to get out of the water.

A curious thing is from a documentary of an keeper & a small cub. Time to bath was not so smooth as may be imagined. Hesitant, needed assured by his his surrogate mom at first. In the wild the similar thin would happen. With some encouragement, a bold one first, then sibling would follow.

I once befriended a crow and it REALLY liked my shoelaces. We used to play tug of war with these and once I let it win it completely lost the interest, when I started to pull back again it vigorously started pulling back . Fascinating birds, they do like pulling and claiming things for themselves 😂

They are simply adorable and totally at home in Singapore. Have seen them wonder around the estate several times and came close to their pack in Sentosa to realise they can be quite fishy smelling. Until they ate the koi at a nearby church, did we realise how super rich the church was to even keep such expensive and costly pets. The same also happened to a much disliked unit in the neighbourhood😊😊 who kept infringing on public space by even building a fish pond outside his public housing unit -same fate to the fishes. That silly man actually complained to the local press and photos of his illegal structure and story came out in the MSM. Thanks to the otters for exposing such social malaise. Unknown to that resident, the otters actually came back to look for fish a few weeks after that during daytime. 😊

The US has always had crows and ravens. I'm not sure if they are house crows. American Indian lore has crows in them. So they have been here for some time. Could have come over on the Mayflower as far as I know. 😊

Crows and ravens have long graced the skies of the United States, their presence intertwined with the fabric of American landscapes. While I can't confirm if they're specifically house crows, they've certainly left their mark on American Indian lore, becoming symbols of wisdom, mystery, and cunning. Their ancient presence suggests they could have arrived on these shores as early as the Mayflower, their enigmatic flight tracing a history as rich and storied as the land itself.

@@sngray11 Why did BBCearth delete my comment? I was just pointing out something bad about the UK. ※ This is how trouble occurs, so it is wrong to just point it out and then erase the facts. If you think it's wrong, then that's the ego of the BBC. I was just pointing out the facts. I made a normal comment like this, and it's immoral for an account that exists only for publicity and has no meaning to cause trouble and do as they please. Moreover, the BBC is a national broadcaster, isn't it? If so, I think it is the media that should consider which is immoral.
