It's uncanny how much Kelsey Grammer looked like David Hyde Pierce in the early days of Cheers. According to the producers of Frasier, David Hyde-Pierce was cast as Niles largely for that reason.

Cheers characters are mostly annoying, while "Frasier" had a brilliant cast and all characters are funny in their own way. The only annoying ones were always the ones from Cheers, i.e. Lilith. Even "Maris", not played by anyone, is funny. If anything, "Cheers" held him back - both Frasier, the character, and Kelsey Grammer, the actor.

@@alexk3088 Oh I totally agree. That's why Frasier was the most successful spin off in history. One of my all time favorite shows!!! 😀👍🌟🤣 That show was 10 times better than Cheers.
@Charlezard.2 ай бұрын
@@alexk3088 I see people say the same thing about Frasier though. The regulars at cheers would be annoying in that they're blue-collar jokester pests. Frasier and Niles would be annoying in that they're white-collar elitest snobs. The only thing Martin had in common with them is their mutual judgement and disdain for each others' style. Marty would've fit right in at Cheers.
@alexk30882 ай бұрын
@@Charlezard. that's the thing though, Niles and Frasier in the show "Frasier" brilliantly lampoon elitism and snobbism in a very funny and witty way. Characters of "Cheers" don't. Just not that funny, not particularly witty. Annoying. Cliff Clavin is maybe worth 1 episode for some laughs, but then becomes increasingly unbearable. Norm is repetitive and predictable. Woody is an imbecile. Everyone else is a slut (yes, including Sam). If we want examples of where blue-collar types are lampooned, how about "Married with Children" - that was funny. Likewise, Martin's character has plenty of humor, but also emotional depth and drama, that is absolutely unknown in "Cheers". IMHO, of course.

If ever Sam or Frasier had a best friend, it was each other. They meet as competitors for the affection of the same woman (though Frasier also functions as Sam's psychiatrist when he is drinking). Both alpha-males having been heartbroken by that woman, turn into each other's confidant. Having Sam appear on Frasier as the first Cheer's alum was an inspired choice.

The biographs of these great minds are very good reading; they paint nice scenery around the essance of the physics itself, usually revealling dynamics between the con and pro collegues, etc.
@ipudisciple3 жыл бұрын
The complete equation is E^2 - p^2 c^2 = m^2 c^4, where m is the rest mass. So p=0 gives E=m c^2 and m=0 gives E=pc. The point is that (E, p c) is a 4-vector and its length-squared E^2 - p^2 c^2 is the constant m^2 c^4. Expansion of E to first order in p gives E ≈ m c^2 + p^2/2m, and to first order p ≈ m v, so the p^2/2m term is the kinetic energy (1/2) m v^2.

I'm a huge fan of the sitcom Fraiser, I also grew up watching Cheers. I come back to watch the clips of Fraiser on Cheers because I have a lot of trouble connecting the two character's timeline. They are so similar yet played so differently. I know this was done intentionally so the creators of Fraiser would have better material to work with, but I can't help but think Cheer's Fraiser and the sitcom Fraiser are like two different versions of the character from different fictional universes. The multiverse of Fraiser if you will.
@TheProfessor2302 жыл бұрын
I once theorized that Cheers Frasier and Frasier in his spin off were from two different universes, cheers frasier was from a universe where he is from Boston, he came from aristocracy, both his mother and Father (who was also a psychiatrist) died, and he had no brother, and his personality is different, while Frasier from the spin off is from Seattle, his father is a retired cop (and not dead), he has a brother, and his personality is more snobbish. And that cheers Frasier was still together with Lilith while Frasier from the spin off was divorced from her.

Hard to believe that he started his debut on Cheers before his spinoff occurred.

Frasier is remarkably similar to Kryton from Red dwarf(british scifi sitcom). same laugh.

I love Red Dwarf. Kryton is my favorite character. After they did the make up and costume less terrifying of course.

Honestly, I prefer "Cheers" Frasier. In Cheers, he has upper class qualities but can also be chill and "one of the guys", but in Frasier, he is stuck up, uptight, snobbish, annoying, overthinks every single little thing and detail, and tries too hard to find meaning in everything.
@PowerRedBullTypology3 жыл бұрын
This frasier would be boring in his own show. Maybe he's more likeable , but it's less comedic
@ennuiblue42952 жыл бұрын
I still don't believe he would be in Cheers given his profession. Unless he was a lone wolf wouldn't he be networking and socializing with his peers?
@Amp6612 жыл бұрын
Other way around. He was trying too hard to fit in in Cheers. When he got to Seattle, he became more dry, cynical and sarcastic when his new life is invaded by his dad and brother without his consent, and his dry, sarcastic humour is an absolute riot.

not too often a spin-off is on par with its progenitor,due in no small part to Kelsey Grammer's amazing delivery and a lot of the same writers as Cheers.

@Beth Romm Ahahahha I own Cheers and I pay CBS All Access (commercial free) just for Cheers. I'm glad I'm wealthy enough to purchase whatever makes me happy - I just bought Dungeons & Dragons books - stapled, old booklets - for $500 Ahahahaha
