Brilliant comedian, had to wait a long time for success, I was lucky to see him many times. A true story he said he was in the black book at the the provident, I was a manager there, and i can confirm he was. A total one off and as a proud mackem, one of us. One of my favourite jokes is when the debt collector came to the door, and he knew we wernt in, let him knock paint lasts longer than the skin, classic

I know Bobby was from wear side and I'm a Geordie. But I'm old enough to remember that he was loved all over the north east. Just wish I was old enough to have been able to see him live in the clubs where he was welcomed so much. Legend. Rest in peace.

I used to collect the glasses in Redcar workies club and the only two acts who I saw that almost owned the club when they performed were the little waster and a husband and wife act where the wife was Little Mo the mighty atom. You.may remember her as the small blonde one from the Roly Polys on Les Dawson's shows.

Seen him at Chilton and Windlestone Workingmens Club, twice, and at the Flamingo Club own the Boro way, when Olivier Newton was number one back in the day when grease was thing, number one hits album in the country, apart from the Northeast, Bobby brought a comedy album out hahaha, nee lies, I sent 2 down to Doncaster for Kith that had moved down there with the pits, aye he liked the gallawars, (horses/ponies/pit ponies), bred from Galloway in Scotland

One of the greatest stand-up comedians in Britain. He had a distinct N Eastern brand of humour which may not be too well understood South of Darlington. I once saw him live as a kid in the Empire Theatre in Newcastle many years ago, but am now sorry that I never went to any of his performances as I grew older. He remains a much-loved and missed showbiz personality.

Only trouble was that Bobby had the same act with the same jokes all his life. I still liked him though. When he died I believe he never had a penny to scratch his arse with. Liked the horses too much, but I don't think the horses liked him. One of the old school we'll never see the likes of ever again.

@@jlen1185 because the area of Sunderland, Newcastle, north and south tyneside, east durham and west were all considered Geordies then. It wasn't until after that Newcastle made it an exclusive club and the local media latched on to it. And to answer your response. He is a Sunderland lad, no ifs, no buts. Walking out to a local region song that wasnt exclusively sang just in Newcastle, does not change the place her grew up. imagine that
