This game would be worth playing if only the spells weren't so unbalanced and available to every class, making each playthrough feel redundant.

It does feel that way sometimes but I still enjoy it. The classes have pretty different stats which suit different builds like shield maiden gets huge melee crit multi and and sorceress gets quite a bit of multistrike with levels.
