40:13 Inner Explosion is a [Flow] card. That means that it only does it's effect if the previously used card is a completely different color. In this case: Lore is Green + Red while Inner explosion is Red + Blue. Since both cards have Red, Inner Explosion did nothing. The only thing that damaged the enemy was Wooden Drone which activates upon casting a card.

Fun thing I found playing this game is when you get rewards or relics you can re-roll the "Choose among X relics/cards" and get more options for them with the One Die. You can even look to see the options first and then go back and roll again if the results are worse than you'd like.
