I was on safari start of last year. Spent a day in the ungoro goro crater. First thing we saw was a pack of lions 1 meter besides the road sleeping. The saw us, they didn't care, just went back to sleep. There was also a tribe of masai living down there tending to cattle, their children was spread around the area. They are famed warriors, I think the lions have learned humans are just as dangerous if provoked for the most part. There's a reason we became the worlds apex predators.

Cheetahs are less violent than lions, wolves and tigers, bears, because they have a system of equality, not one of class or dominance. Tigers fight other tigers for property, resources, etc. The idea is that there is not enough for the both of us. Lions live in a violent environment from the day they are born where they can be killed by male lions, their pride taken over by a new male, etc. Males will fight unless they are related or one male is submissive to the other male and stays away from the females. Female lions don't get to choose who they mate with. Cheetahs see each other as equals, they have small fights with each other over food, females, etc. but usually not to the death. Most female cheetahs get to choose her mate. If a female does not like a male he, usually, does not force her into intercourse. They are more docile in general and if you don't look a strange cheetah in the eye, which is a challenge, you should be fine. The cheetah kept glancing away, so he/she was not interested in a fight.
@patphatkitten9 жыл бұрын
Yes, cheetahs were domesticated. They were used in India, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East to help people hunt game. They did this even in the early 1900's. The cheetah would run at the animal, knock it down and the men would run after them and immediately kill the animal. The cheetah kept it busy until the men got there. The cheetah would then wait for its owners to give it a piece of the kill. I hear cheetahs are no longer in the Middle East/India and are now only found in Africa. Don't know if that is true or not. It is a shame if it is true. Thanks for the additional information.

+Striker Wolf Its too risky with a wild animal you don't know. With animals they all have different personalities like people. With dogs, some dogs are more willing to "see" if a stranger is friendly and some dogs are mean to strangers. Usually it depends on how they were raised and treated as pups. It's risky with a wild animal like a Cheetah even if you trained them all your life they are still wild and unpredictable. And it's not like you can ran either they are one of if not, the fastest animal in the wild so might as well put salt and pepper on herself. That Cheetah was just exploring it didn't feel threatened nor was it hungry so no sudden movements and they were good.

An exciting and harmless encounter...so long as you remember not to scare it. In an enclosed space, that might end badly. Not FATALLY, but badly. They are too lightweight in build to see humans as prey and will run away rather than fight back in most situations. The average human outweighs a cheetah and weight is everything on the savannah.
@MariusThePaladin8 жыл бұрын
+Alex Tocqueville Yep, Cheetah wouldn't likely be able to kill a human, especially if you're not alone, but they'll fucked you up. lol Probably poking your eyes out too.
@Gj23jk28 жыл бұрын
Weight is everything, both good and bad. It's a balance between brawling skills and chasing skills. A male lion is all upper body strength and heavy enough to beat any individual lioness in a one-on-one, thus ensuring he's the alpha for mating and pride defense purposes, but he can't run for shit so the lighter lionesses are the hunters. A cheetah is so fast there's nothing that can outrun him, but he's built like a greyhound; small, weak jaw optimized for small prey + uber-lean musculature + retractable "cleat" style claws that are for grip, not killing. He'd get his ass handily kicked in a fight with even a single hyena, who has a high amount of upper body musculature (particularly in the jaw).

This is true. Cheetahs are in the Felinae subfamily, along with Servals, Caracals, Lynx, Bobcats, Cougars, and Housecats. Lions, Tigers, Leopards, and others in the Pantherinae subfamily are generally more dangerous, aggressive, and instinct-driven. Cheetahs, Servals, and Caracals, in fact, have a history of domestication in Egypt and the Middle East, particularly as hunting companions. Raise them with kindness from kittenhood and they are generally as friendly as a domestic cat.

+crusader1815 Thats not true.Cheetah belong to feline family and is the smallest one among big cats.Infact they are smaller than some large cats from felinae family such as mountain lions.

And there's people out there who will pay thousands of dollars to shoot a majestic creature like this using a high powered rifle while sitting inside a 4WD, and then pose for photos with its carcass.
@screamingbats11217 жыл бұрын
Polpiv4tifish and what you fail to realize is situations like that, the money is usually donated to the cause to help save the cheetah population. they let a few guys kill a cheetah for a couple thousand so they can keep out poachers and use the money to help cheetahs.

Cheetah's are the most docile of the big cats, more closely resembling a feral cat in the respect that they can be friendly to us, and still be hunters.

This is a beautiful creature. Many bush South Africans have these and Caracals as house pets. They admit though that their sharp claws and curious nature makes it difficult to keep these animals. This shows they belong truly in the wild but have an amazing affinity with us humans. Great video👍
