Cheetah was a thrirsty boy. Bro drank for 3 whole minutes lol. Even the Oryx was like "Hey leave some water for us too!"

I Love how the Cheetah stood up and All the Oryx jumped at the same time, LOL!

Magnificent animal! Amazing how a 100-pound cheetah can calmly hold several tons of oryx (with hooves and horns) at bay, and frighten them all just by standing up and sauntering off.

I have some trouble with your weight estimates. LOL. However, the adults will know the cheetah will get a calf and may not always hunt alone. Caution is well advised. Prey species get only one wrong judgement of the risk.

Beautiful Cheetah and always a delight to see. Love how the Oryx slowly meandered back to the water after the Cheetah had vacated.

He could have just ignored the cheetah and drank like casually.

@@billyjudd3326 Maybe Billy but Oryx are well aware that Cheetah can take them down, and especially the young calves.
@zack28044 ай бұрын
@@annettelane659 No they can't. The herd didn't have any calves. A single jab would've been game over for the cheetah.

This was amazing to see... Cheetahs rarely drink - seldom do they drink more than once every four days and sometimes only once every 10 days.

lol Orynx is mad, offering contemptuous snorts of disapproval of the cheetah invading its pan. Cheetah responds by promptly sitting hind quarters down to get more comfortable. lol Orynx thinks it's higher in the food chain than it is. ; )

That cheetah must have been extremely dehydrated. By my count he drank for a solid minute and a half.

The Oryx are a little territorial about the hole and chase others off. It's fun to see one Cheetah hold court.
@jamesbarnhart43958 ай бұрын
It seems to me the oryx was trying to say “shoo kitty” but kitty was thirsty to so the oryx had to wait. It better than the jackal yelling, “I’m not alone, I have friends” while kitty and her children just wanted to drink in peace. That video was funny.

Wonderful! Loved seeing the Cheetah and something very small (beetle or small lizard?) creep along the sand and right up under it's right side. The ttiny creature can still be seen by the water's edge after the Cheetah walks away. The power of the Cheetah's presence and the Oryx' response to it simply standing up...impressive!

Srsly, I just watched one where they were all at the watering hole and there were others politely waiting and the Oryx had his nuzzle in the water and wasn't even really drinking. C'mon, really? ( It was the one with the baby giraffe.) And they are always a little bit trollish and tetchy.

That Cheetah could care less about the oryx that were around him, he wanted some water and that was that, after the cheetah was done drinking he was not going to do any chasing with a full belly of water sloshing around.
@unwoke16523 ай бұрын
Cheetah usually prey on smaller animals; Oryx are too large for them. They do steenbok, springbok, impala, even red hartebeest but not eland or oryx; they also don't attack humans in the wild.
@donw65378 ай бұрын
With one dead stump every 300 meters, cover is a bit of a problem for both predators and prey.

How is the waterhole maintained. ? Heat of 35 and 37degrees celcius daily. Yet it looks topped up. Is there a natural water feeding it or long hosepipe fed beneath the ground from another source ?

Wow! That's incredible to see. The way the prey stood back, knowing that the predator was drinking but could hurt any of them at any point. Effectively communicating "Have your space to drink. We will wait." I'm surprised the oryx don't move further back to make way; Perhaps if they did, the cheetah would see a golden opportunity for a kill (Given the way they hunt). Just wow.

Neither their lives are horrible and brutal, and they have to work hard to "hopefully" get some food. I would much rather be a zebra, they have great social groups, and they only have to go on a leisurely stroll to get some food.
