I recently downloaded VocalShifter with the intentions to use it with NEUTRINO... but realized I could use it for other things! Like tuning Vocaloid1 voicebanks because V1 crashes for me all the time when I spend more than 3 minutes in it lol

A lot of ppl have completely written off Meiko's English because they said her recordings/pronunciations aren't up to scratch, esp in comparison to the other Cryptonloids. Not necessarily garbage but like,,, comparing Meiko to Kaito's eng is like comparing Len to Rin's ig. At least from what I've seen in practice, I'm too broke for the system so maybe everyone just lied and sucks at tuning 😂😂😂😭

@@Yapuwfou I mean, I really disagree with that sentiment. Meiko’s pronunciation is pretty decent. Her only real issue is that she pronounces her “l” phoneme like an “r” at times, and that’s actually really easy to fix if you instead use her “l0” phoneme, since she almost always pronounces that sound properly, and it’s often hard to hear a difference between “l0” and “l” for pre-V4 VOCALOIDs anyways. Otherwise, most of her phonemes are pronounced pretty well. At worst, her raspy tone can affect her clarity a bit, but not that much even. Kaito isn’t actually that bad either - his vowels might have the issue of not being very distinct, like Luka V2 and Miku’s English banks, but he makes up for it with his flexibility, unique vocal tone, and general clarity. He was definitely one of the best English voicebanks available when he originally came out, and is still one of Crypton’s better English voicebanks, only really competing with Luka V4. That said, even though they are counterparts of one another, I wouldn’t really even compare KAITO and MEIKO English. They both just handle very differently. KAITO is a voicebank with an emphasis on functionality and generally being easy to use, with straight notes and highly modulated tone, whereas MEIKO’s English voicebank takes a more natural approach, which has a lot more quirks and oddities ( as do many voicebanks with that approach ), but can omit a more natural and human-sounding singing tone. Rin and Len aren’t really _bad_ English-wise imo, but they do have some significant problems. Like, their pronunciation is actually really good if you take the time to listen to their individual sounds, but their raspiness can affect their clarity pretty badly, both of them have simply awful vocal ranges ( they’re legit the only voicebanks I own where I struggle to use them due to their small ranges ), and they do have a nasty habit of overpronouncing a lot of phonemes, and can sound a bit unnatural. Not to mention that a lot of people complain that they don’t really sound like themselves, Rin in particular, though honestly, that can be fixed pretty easily if you tweak their brightness and gender factor settings. Still though, Kagamine English isn’t exactly Crypton’s _best_ work I’ll have to say. They’re not good for beginners for sure, whereas I wouldn’t take much issue with recommending MEIKO to a beginner, and would possibly outright recommend KAITO as an example of a good beginner voicebank.

I rlly like Kaito's vb I thibk it's rlly good i agree, and I'm surprised that if Meiko is more versatile than Rin/Len and about at difficult as Miku that nobody rlly uses her much. i'm sorry for being agressive, but comments like this really tick me off. given that logic, then we should argue that leon and lola be the most popular since they came before all else, don't they? I understand that you just want more people to use meiko, but there is a reason why miku is so popular. she's quite easy to use, has a distinct voice, and is the first one to be marketed as a character together with the voicebank. if you want to make meiko popular, then support meiko creators and encourage producers to make more content and for vocaloid enthusiasts to consume more meiko content. maybe your comment is not that deep, but reading these comments for such a long time now has really grated on my nerves
