Thank you, Chef AJ and Dr. Barnard. I just pre ordered the book for my husband's birthday which is April 1st, no joke! He is finally on the WFPB bandwagon, and I want to thank YOU< Chef AJ for this wonderful gift of mine and my husband's health. I became WFPB during the pandemic, when I first came across a video of a woman taking a tour of Trader Joe's vegan foods. That was YOU...I then looked you up and the rest is history. Thank you for giving us life...and happy birthday. May you receive many blessings as you continue to bless others!

Apples and carrots are relatively high in microplastics, so it may not be good idea to eat 3 apples a day. Canola oil _may_ be harmful. Not because it is a seed oil but hexane, which is used for oil extraction. Nuclear magnetic imaging, not spectroscopy, is likely to be used for assessing fat levels in muscles.

Fantastic vid. What is often underestimated is the amount of exercise (intensity/duration) needed to burn off a bad food choice (currently) or an accumulation of bad food choices over years. Better to eliminate the action of grabbing a bad food choice v. burning it off. (This is my mental model for weighing easy effort v. hard effort of exercising--and easy does not always win!). And what is easier than introducing good foods into your life to nourish your body and restore health and prepare you for being able to live a more active lifestyle?

I really like The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet book by Donald Hensrud. I lost 30 pounds following this diet and have kept most of it off for almost 3 years. It is a low fat diet that measures portions of protein, fats and carbohydrates. It recommends whole grains (steel cut oats instead of instant oats), serving of fruit with every meal (love cantaloupe and oranges), and nonstarchy vegetables with every meal. The diet book says it can even be used by a vegan. I have to watch my portions or I gain weight. This book teaches how to measure portions to ensure I don't eat too much, but the serving of fruit and nonstarchy vegetables helps keep me feeling full.

instead I got the ingredients for the black bean burger. Got pears and my favorite fruit cherries. I was able to get garlic powder and onion powder. The pears I like are hard and I core them. They were red looking. I got quit its to mix with the black bean burger but I discovered I cant make patties so I just warm up a little of it during the day when I am hungry and I mash the beans down add the 5 tablespoon quick oats and the can of rinsed can of black beans and I put the garlic powder and onion powder too. it works outs well just eating some and warming it up for 15 seconds in microwave and it s good. Then I got fresh tomatoes also to pout in the mixture .

The last few years my A1c went from 5.5 to 5.9 as of last summer[put on 20 pounds as I lost my way of generally eating less fast food and just the normal American diet but always with a lot of salads] Over 40 days ago I discovered you and switched to a Whole Foods plant-based diet cold turkey and I’m doing extremely well. Couple tiny cheats, but not much at all. I’m going in for a recheck of my A1c tomorrow and I’m so nervous about what the results are going to be because I’ve been so brainwashed not to eat fruit and I’ve really increased my consumption of berries after watching your video as well as bananas and mangoes etc. Wish me luck as I want my A1c back down to 5.5. Fasting blood in the morning is usually around 85, which is good and of course my doctor doesn’t treat an A1c that’s 5.8 - 5.9 but I don’t want it to get any higher and I want it to be back down to 5.5. I have only lost 4 pounds in 40 days but I’m gonna be the slow turtle approach and continue to eat this way hopefully forever as I really like the foods. I only need to lose about seven more pounds so my goal is in reach. I just want my A1c to be in the green range again. I’ll be 70 and have been very active my whole life. I did try intermittent fasting and a semi Paleo diet but during that time I developed diverticulitis. I’ve only had one recurrence since then in the last couple years. My guts now, on this new diet feel extremely stable - the best it’s been since my diagnosis. I have always been fairly healthy my whole life, but since eating more fast food and being less diligent with my diet, I put the weight on and I’m developing these small health problems, and I am totally convinced the semi Paleo diet with the lack of fiber did that to my gut. Thanks for everything that you do. Also chef AJ, your interviewing style is phenomenal and I love watching your interviews when I’m home during the day doing my chores

Thanks again for being classy, beautiful super cute tops and haircut and the best interviewer out there. I was incredibly thrilled with with my blood work, still waiting on that A1c. My physician said I would not be able to lower my A1c with my way of eating because of the sugars in the fruit but that’s not what I’m hearing from all the testimonials so let’s see what happens. Also, I did purchase the book.

To all of you in the panel! How long should we keep foods in the freezer before we need to eat them.
@Kellysher
@Kellysher 8 ай бұрын
I would say maybe 2 months, but must admit some items maybe longer. I really leverage the freezer. I use glass containers and label everything with a date! I like variety and hate waste. I make big batches of chili, soups, lentil taco meat, so that weekdays are easier. Another tip is to make batches of brown rice and bulgur. Cool them, then put them in a gallon baggie and lay that flat in the freezer. You can then break off a piece as needed and microwave it for Buddha bowls or stir fry. When peaches or blueberries are in season, I buy the sales and freeze that too for oatmeal. The freezer is your friend!

@@Ranch-girl I just went for it. I love all food and love to cook, so I just made up my mind to go plant based. I don’t really feel the need to declare myself vegan or Wfpb. I guess I don’t like the tribalism. Right and wrong, or forbidden foods etc. I still eat a little cheese when it’s really good cheese or an occasion. I eat an impossible burger 1x month. I was not diagnosed with any medical condition, I just didn’t feel good- bloated, constipated. I didn’t realize how bad I felt, until I felt better! I got Fiber Fueled by Will Bulsiewicz from the library. He addresses specific medical issues. I just and dove into You tube and Pinterest. I don’t miss meat. Dr. McDougall fwiw stated in one of his youtube videos relatively recently that he had to increase his nut consumption to maintain weight and actually add a few pounds. His preferred nuts are almonds. I believe he said two servings per day or two ounces. I guess the point is if a person has gotten maybe too skinny on whole plant food diet that the only way to safely maintain the wt. or add a few pounds is to eat more nuts. To be clear, in all of his lectures and commentary on diet that I've heard, he is in lock step with Dr. Barnard's advice to eat nuts within reason, i.e. handful a day with rare exceptions.

Plants and starches have always been the staple source of calories. Meat used to be a luxury now it’s overly abundant. Also meat today is highly fatty compared to lean wild animals. My sugar spiked, all 4 ways , fibre is not a nutrient, not nessasry, he said Salmon is bad for me ?? Why is it for the first time in my life , im loosing weight, like 10 lbs a month , never hungry, eating 18/6 , im off Insulin in first 24 days, off BP meds a week later, IBS is gone , A1c down to almost normal, How you may wonder ?? , dod the opposite of this old 1950s advice, i eat salmon, beef, chicken, under 20 carbs , Neil your anti fat redirect is not going help very many people i fear. But i will skip. Vasaline as you adviced, , actually only good advice you gave , you misunderstood the Randal cycle if you say animal fats are the enemies, the advice on nuts and seed oil good , hope your proud of that book , i feel bad for the fat hungry sick folks can afford to buy a copy

I have lost 100 lbs by doing keto. I kept my carbs under 20g. I got off all my T2D meds, GURD meds, and sleeping meds. My ldl is just above what the docs want, but when your body needs something, it will make it. There is no easy method. Just remember that you didn't put it all on in one year, so it will take a while to get it off. Processed foods, sugar, and seed oils are not good for you, and neither is the food pyramid as well as the SAD. Fatty foods, protein, are great macros. Just remember everyone is different, and you must do your own N =1. Just remember plants have a defensive mechanism, and not all plants are good for you. Personally, I have become a carnivore. I am 56 and feel like I'm in my 20s. Try your own scientific investigation on yourself, and see YOUR results. Cheers, and tight lines...
