We are so sad and cry with you, the McDougall’s and the whole food plant based community. Thank you and Dr Davis for coming on today and sharing. Wishing you a great time out there, promoting your book. All the Best and God Bless! 👍✅🙏❤️😘

The dream shows the mutual love shared which is from God alone. Truth from scripture states the deceased are as asleep & know nothing until the day Christ returns & lifts all the faithful up to Him for eternity. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18. Ecclesiastes 9: 5, Gen 2: 7. etc. (the breath of life is only one part of the soul; body+breath=soul. The breath returns to the Giver of life untol He returns (not touching this earth like false Christs of a deceiving satanic spirit) Check out TruthAboutDeath for resources on what happens when you die. Thank the Lord above for memories & abilities of the growing brain (starches/ whole plant carbs) & reasoning abilities with free choice. Hearts have been moved & are being moved even now. I'm so glad you are sharing your kind thoughts and memories of Dr. John McDougall and using this space to honor him. I know what an important role he played in so many of our lives and I feel a gaping hole at this time due to his sudden passing. It is still a shock. So many questions. I know how significant he was in your life Chef AJ and I do hope that his family will give approval for a larger memorial when they are ready. It was great to hear Dr. Niki Davis talk about her experience interning side by side with him and witnessing how he communicated with and helped his patients. Dr. Michael Greger has talked about adding "life to your years" (not years to your life). From the way it appears to me, Dr. John McDougall certainly added a lot of life to his years, living well, loving life, helping others, and finding joy emotionally and physically. Chef AJ, your words towards the end of your video is so touching about Dr McDougall giving you your first start. I believe his family would be so touched to hear this from you.

Thank you, AJ and Dr. Davis. My heart goes out to his family and to all who knew him personally. Many thousands of people who have read his books and followed his advice are struggling with our feelings about his sudden death, and have no one to talk to about our grief. As someone else said, our families and friends may not understand our feelings of loss, if they are not a member of the WFPB/vegan community. I hope his family will have some kind of public, recorded service so we can all grieve together. I would love to see all of the other plant-based doctors and influencers come together to honor him. It would be very healing for all of us.

Chef AJ, Dr. McDougall saved my husband's life and my eyesight. We watched "Forks Over Knives" in November of 2019. Then, we read "The Starch Solution." On April 29th of 2020 I went on a WFPB diet. 3 weeks later my husband, Jim, joined me. Jim had 4-way bypass surgery 10 years ago and had stents placed twice after that. Things were not looking good. I was developing macular puckering and my eyesight was getting blurry. My cholesterol at the time was 280. Now it's 140. The macular puckering has reversed. Jim's angina was gone after 4 months of eating this way. I believe Dr. McDougall literally saved our lives. I did email them quite a while ago and tell them. I was absolutely shocked to hear of his passing. He is one of my heroes. I am so sorry for your feeling of loss. I have loved watching your broadcasts and you have helped me a lot. Thank you. The last time he was with you was the first time I had the courage to type in a question. You graciously relayed it to him, and his answer gave me much peace and a feeling of security about a possible future decision. Already appreciated him, his knowledge, generosity, honesty, and sense of humor. I thought I already felt close to him, although never having been in his presence. But knowing he left us felt as loosing a family member. Thank you for sharing heart today.

Thank you thank you thank you ♥️♥️♥️.... I laughed and cried with you wonderful ladies. What a prayer for this fabulous man. I've been crying all week but smiling too, thinking of the success he had going out his way with no compromise. All the people I've met who love him deeply. I actually got to talk to Esther at length last year. I know her heart is bursting with love for this man. I'm so glad you were able to make him feel so loved and appreciated for the rest of us who could never reach him with our endless words of gratitude. We should all be so lucky to be so deeply loved. ......... Thank you again for letting us cry with someone who loved him so much. You know... my 35 yo son was killed in 2016, and I learned THEN how important it is to cry for people we love. They are now in a dimension which has no linear time or physical constraints. They know all that ever was and never will be all at once. I know they can feel it. It's like hugging them, when we cry for them because we love them so much. So I cry freely when someone wonderful has left this dull world. Our tears are watering the flowers on his grave.

I remember him talking about how horrible his diet was as a young man. He didn’t become plant based until after he worked as a doctor in Hawaii and decided to go back to school. He also said some of the detrimental things we do to our bodies can’t be reversed so I think that’s why he didn’t live forever.

Chef AJ you are such a beautiful soul. This was a wonderful thing to do to help us all grieve the loss of Dr McDougall. You were the shining star that introduced so many of us to Dr. McDougall, and we will be forever grateful. Dr. McDougall will forever be a superhero in the health food world. He lived a full life until it was his appointed time to leave. My cousin was also in full health like Dr. McDougall when at 65years she felt it was her time to die at 70years. So she spent the last 5 years travelling between her children. Then after celebrating her 70th birthday, that night, she died in her sleep, they way we are supposed to die... as nature intended it, peacefully in her sleep with full health without any disease. We all have an appointed time to live, and a time to die. And Dr. McDougalls legacy will live on far into the future. He has taught us how to live a healthy disease free life whilst we live out our appointed time on the earth.

Thank you, Chef AJ and Dr Davis. Dr McDougall visited Rockford, IL, to teach part of Dr Diehl's CHIP. I was so moved by Dr McDougall and all the Drs. They were a big help in teaching me to be vegan since 1998. God Bless all of you for being you. Sue Michaelsen

We are all devastated and choked up over this today. We lost a huge giant. And all that knew him are surely shocked and saddened for sure. His Starch Solution way of life will continue to go on. l'm holding onto everything I've learned from this great doctor. In our eyes, he left too soon. 77 is not old. He was at his prime and at his best. He was full of enthusiasm with so much he wanted to say that it left him breathless. And l get that...l get his enthusiasm. He shared so much that he couldn't stop. He did all he could to get the word out there so folks can live a better heathier lifestyle. He was right. There will be no other that will carry his great knowledge as he did. l pray Dr. Lim will certainly step forward and continue this great powerful legacy. He would be the only one that can come close to carry on the breakthrough of all of Dr. M's hard work, research and knowledge about his starch solution, etc. The truth never changes....and the foods you eat is what you wear. A starch is your main course with added fruits and vegetables. It's the food folks....quoting Dr. M. My thoughts and heart goes out to Mary today, tomorrow and all the tomorrows ahead. We love this giant and we love Mary. They are the 2 most awesome human beings on this planet earth.....❤❤ (l hope my words will get to Mary) p.s.....me too, l'm 1 of them starfishes too.....

You're so right when you say you wish all vegans would just get along (when it comes to diet at least; heck, I have carnist friends and we're not arguing all the time. I never met Doctor McDougall and I know he comes - sorry, came across, as quite abrasive. But he spoke the truth from a position of great authority. What a lovely man. Also, regarding his death: we also need to remember that he was a meat-eating heavy smoker once. Carry that torch, Chef AJ!

People should look up what the long term survival rate even is for people that had a lacunar stroke like he had at 18. It's insane that he was still alive and well 59 years later. Most don't even get 20 years.

Thank you, Chef AJ, for this beautiful tribute for an amazing man. I got to attend three different Advanced Study Weekends, including the one where you shared your powerful message "From Fat Vegan to Skinny Bitch". It was a true life-impacting experience. Dr. McDougall's deep fondness & admiration for you was very apparent. He made a point of regularly expressing his appreciation for you whenever he had the chance. It was so poignant to see how much you loved him. You truly ARE one of his Starfish! Sending you a big hug 💝 Sheri Lee
