Hello There Friends, Today I am making the last side dish in my Steakhouse Sides series! Finishing it off with The Perfect Brussel Sprouts! I know many people do not like Brussel Sprouts for their bitterness, but come and try my secret technique in making them delicious! Any cooked cabbage made me gag as a kid. Had a stuffed cabbage at a wild game dinner and have eaten cabbage ever since. Every once in a while, sauerkraut gets me though.

The Brussel sprouts grown decades ago are different from the ones grown today. The recent ones are less bitter.

Not pretentious, always makes me laugh, and has to be ADD. I tend to forget one ingredient too. He also always makes me want to try cooking new things that maybe have been intimidated to make! Thank you, Chef!

I love Brussels sprouts! My go-to recipe is oven roasting (not burning) them with extra virgin olive oil, honey, garlic, salt & pepper & then tossing them with a little Balsamic vinegar & sprinkling them with Parmesan Reggiano at the end. Absolutely delicious! I never thought of cooking bacon with them. I'm trying Chef Jean-Pierre's recipe tomorrow. It looks delicious, too! Thank you, dear sir!

always cooked them in salted water and had them with gravy. Love them since I had them once that way while eating out. Have to try your rather sweeter approach. And I have to tell you: what you do looks gorgeous.

I always steam my vegetables instead of boiling them because i've always been told you lose so many vitamins in the water even if you don t put them in for long, and steaming keeps the vitamins in better. I wonder what chef thinks.

Chef Jean-Pierre I bloody love watching your videos, you have such a passion for cooking and teaching, my younger brother is a chef, as was my grandfather and I've also had some experience cooking and working in professional kitchens, but I've learnt new skills from you, and things I didn't know so thank you. I wish you could come live with me and teach me everything you know! After being ill for several years I'm now at a point where I can now start to cook again, and I'm falling back in love and finding my passion for cooking ❤ I've tried a couple of your recipes so far since coming across you a couple of months ago. My least favorite food is now my favorite food. Chef Jean-Pierre always talks about people hating mushrooms; which are my favorite. Brussel sprouts have been my least, if not worst vegetable to eat, since childhood. However, Chef Jean-Pierre with his infectious persona always makes his food delectable and flavorful. As long as he makes me laugh, I'm cooking his way. I love these brussel sprouts

As someone who love sprouts I am delighted to have picked up some new tips here! I like the way they taste, that bitter kick, but will try the sugar in the water and will make my own version of this with smoky bacon tempeh and definitely a good, thick, sweet balsamic drizzle!

Chef, I must say that for the majority of my career I have oven roasted Brussels Sprouts. Though I rarely burnt them (I must admit though (I have been known to) I would not come up with an even roasted brown like you did in the pan. I will have to try these as they looked absolutely wonderful and evenly roasted. Most of what you make is close to what I make but I must say that I have to try Sprouts this way! I'm sure they will be wonderful as Brussels Sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables. I can see why your channel has grown to the size it has.

Thanks for this recipe!! I always hated making Brussels sprouts. Always thought they had to be burnt 😢 in the oven. Your recipe looks great and boil them with sugar and sauté them. Once again for your yummy 😅 recipe.

Brussel sprouts became my absolute favorite vegetable a few years ago, and I love seeing new ways to prepare and cook them. I have never tried sauteing them, only roasting in the oven. I love the nutty, earthy, flavor of the charred leaves. Only recently have I begun to add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar on them. I actually haven't even used bacon yet. Just EVOO with S&P. But I KNOW, ABSOLUTELY KNOW, that everything Chef Jean-Pierre has added for flavor and, the method, is going to be top notch in texture and flavor. I just need to stop at Chef JPs online store to purchase a bottle of his delicious balsamic and some oil. His flavor infused oils are so good. And good quality too. I may even buy some cookware because he has all the best brand names with excellent quality and at reasonable prices. Its almost like buying direct from the Manufacturer price wise, but it's all in one easy location. No need to visit separate manufacturers websites or stores. Just so u know I can’t do without ur garlic olive oil chef !! Oh my gosh !!! It’s the BEST !! If no one here has tried it please take my advice and do so !! It’s absolutely fantastic 🎉🎉🎉 I can’t be without it .. I have the butter olive oil and some of ur vinaigrettes…. But my favorite is the garlic olive oil 🙌🏼🙌🏼 love it

Bonjour - as being very passionate about brussels sprouts myself, I can even suggest to boil the sprouts even less (they remain crunchier and raw sprouts are a bit sweeter than overcooked ones). For the rest, I love the recipe bien à vous! Salutations de Marseille

Chef, thank you! I love Brussels Sprouts, get them every time I go out, but I've never been able to replicate them at home until now. Just made this amazing recipe, and even my wife and kids loved it. One pretended not to, but her smile gave her away. They couldn't even pretend not to like them, because their plates were empty. Sauteed, roasted or grilled are the best ways to enjoy Brussel sprouts IMO. The first time I had them really charred at a restaurant was an amazing surprise. They served them with a simple mayo and malt vinegar sauce. So good an so good for you.

Funny that you posted this. I just made your lamb chop recipe a few days ago which had these brussels. Only difference was instead of finishing them in a pan you put them in the oven. They were great. I will try this method next. And yes, making the brussels ahead took the frenzy away from finishing them off in the oven.

I love Brussels sprouts! I will try this recipe, with less bacon so the vegetable flavor will be stronger. A few years ago I went to the supermarket and bought a few Brussels sprouts for $2.50. I then stopped at the "99 cent" store and noticed they had Brussels sprouts still on the 24 inch stock they were growing on for 99 cents a stock! I had never seen how they grow, little ones at the top, bigger ones at the bottom. We ate lots of Brussels sprouts that week.

Whoa! Look at the size of those sprouts! The ones I get are so small it's enough to fry until light green, they're still crunchy, but easy to chew
