This isn't the worst idea for a Portal mod, keeping the dark tone of the original and bridging the Portal series more into the HL World. The problem is, like you said, at one point it stops feeling like a Portal mod. I think it'd be more interesting if there were less big hitters like Striders and Hunters, and instead you spent your time portaling your way around HL2 environments dodging things like zombies and headcrabs occasionally.

Yeah, once you reach "Chapter 4," the portal gun becomes "discharged," preventing you from shooting orange portals, making it useless for the rest of the mod. It basically turns into Half-Life 2 towards the end of the mod.

I think the reason why the red filter on your screen there was that the creator of this mod tried disable fast-health-regeneration. The game is coded to tint your screen red if you have less than 100 HP, then it fades out once 1 second has passed. However, in this mod, they set sv_regeneration_wait_time to a large value instead just to make it look like HL2.

For anyone who’s confused, portal 1 originally ended outside, where you see Glad0s dead, but after release, it changed to feature chell getting dragged down into the storage room seeing a cake. (I think)

The one dragging chell was the party escort bot, but the storage room scene was just there for some reason (the bot dragged her into the place where she first wakes up in tbe sequel)

I remember this mod, it was pretty confusing when I first played it lol. I think the maps were pretty well made, it just needed a bit more polish to it

I dont remember half of this, I do remember a section where you meet rebels in an old aperture facility and get the usual portal healing ability, explained as a vortigaunt activating a sort of implant

This is my headcanon for Half Life 3, not this exactly, but the same general idea of combining the Portal and Half Life. The humans and combine are after the Borealis for inter planetary teleportation, it turns out to be a red herring and empty while Glados releases Chell in Portal 2 with the portal gun making her a target for both and deciding the fate of the human uprisings success. I guess the game would have you switch between Gordon and Chell, kind of like Halo 2 with Master Chief and Arbiter, and their paths will intertwine at the end.

Well, there's a theory that, in the end of Portal 2 the humanity won a long time ago, since the field can't grown during the occupation because of combines totally fucking the earth up.

@@alwexander996 Oh... yeeeah, there is that theory that the present in Portal 2 exists like, anywhere over 1000 years into the future and that would 100% ruin this theory. But really, that conclusion mainly only comes from the announcer saying how many years Chell has been in stasis. It's entirely possible that the counting system glitched out or malfunctioned due to decay and it's only been like 10 years at best or 50 at worst. All depends on how Valve takes on HL4, but I would love to see the mashup of both games, even though it's likely not to happen.

@@G-DORA The way I interpreted it was just that Chell woke up in Portal between the Half Life games but her return to stasis put her out for a VERY long time, and that's where Portal 2 kicks in. It's consistent with the Lab Rat comic and leaves some interesting room for this mod to co-exist as well I feel.

Honsetly, I tried to play the mod, But it has like no player guidance, and I got so bored with it that I didn't even bother finishing it lol. With a little move things like "Hey! maybe you should check out this area!" and It just being better made. It could probably be much better.

SPOILERS FOR HALF LIFE ALYX I hope due to the ending of Half Life Alyx, there is a timeline split and we end up getting a new Portal game similar to Half Life alyx, where right after Portal 1 this happens.
