Hello-I just subscribed! I’m a fan of gymnastics and adore Chellsie! Not familiar with the current jargon and exactly who was supposed to go (besides Simone, natch) in 2020. What did a Tim Daggart say/do? Also...is she going for Tokyo? That would be...well....EVERYTHING!

Anyone who can throw a DTY after not competing it for a decade, and was not exactly known for vaulting? Yeah. There are elites that finally have a DTY that looks decently solid after training it for a few years. Based on just the few we have seen from Chellsie, and she surely realizes how much stronger she is with this event, and that is evident again, based on the fact she had a pretty solid DTY after a few attempts. I think once she gets used to her new power with her run and block on vault, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they determine she could actually train an Amanar after perfecting the DTY. Andy might have made comments on training it in a joking manner, but I think a part of him is serious about her potentially training it. She is starting from such a higher level of fitness! The only thing that might hinder her with vault is the numbers, but I think as her body gets back into this, her recovery will be okay, and she absolutely has a handle on her body this time around, and the extra strength will surely make a difference as she progresses.
@FrancesBaconandEggs4 жыл бұрын
sarah parks the fact that she’s viewing vault in a different way even after having been elite for so long is amazing. Having a DTY would put her on the same level as a lot of the current national team. But an Amanar...how amazing would that be ?!
@Sarah_Parks4 жыл бұрын
@@FrancesBaconandEggs Absolutely! Even in the latest video posted yesterday, Andy even commented that they might not even need the Amanar. That just goes to show you how much Chellsie is already on pace to challenge the young ones who have been training long since she left the sport. If she can match/beat current elites on beam and bars, then the Amanar is moot, but having it might even give her the edge too! There is absolutely going to be strategy in determining what is needed.

It was so beautiful to see Chellsie and Andy cheering on Rahdea. What a brutally difficult sport, but so inspiring to see someone working toward a goal with the support of their friends/coaches. I love that they are so positive with her-they know she’s her own worst critic, and even when she falls they have positive feedback.

Also on a personal note: I'm part of a group of women (many of us former gymnasts) who got into aerial acrobatics in our late 30s and are now going strong as we circle 40. Being in the best shape of our adult lives and seeing what our 40-year old bodies can do has been the time of our lives. You are an icon Chellsie, love your strength, determination, kindness, humor, and sheer raw awesomeness as a gymnast, showing what adult women can do when we have the motivation and the drive ❤️

I think we all knew once she started training four events. But to hear it, I actually teared up. She’s going to set a precedent that gymnasts can take time off for themselves, to have a life, and can come back as long as they keep their body moving. (Yes chuso but she never stopped). Girls don’t have to train their bodies into the ground by 16 and then find something else to do for the rest of their lives. I love this, it’s a new interesting page in gymnastics.

Who else wants to see Chell Yeah, Memmel Up and other merchandise?! Maybe some with more funny Andy Memmel quips? I think there are thousands of fans here that want to support Chellsie and her comeback! I realize that it isn't exactly Chellsie's style to want to financially gain anything through her gymnastics, but speaking from my own experiences, I don't typically buy merch from stereotypical influencers who just make merch as part of their brand, but enjoy being able to proudly use/wear something from a specific cause I really support and believe in. I like to workout, and wearing a Memmel Up tank top would probably be really motivating for me. I am also 32, and although I am decently fit, I find myself not pushing myself harder when I know I could. Some Chellsie gear for the gym would be a great reminder for me!

I’m in huge support of this, not only because I love chellsie Memel, but because I have been in long-time support of the aging up of elite women’s gymnastics. I would love to have to Olympic teams be closer to an average of 22-24 or even older. The old concepts of youth and lightness to be good in gymnastics does not hold water. You can clearly see that health and strength make a better gymnast.
