I thought Jackson, Broja, DD Fofana, Washington and Dujuan Richards would make for reason enough to play the clearly very talented STs we already HAVE instead of blindly signing a big name ST for a huge sum of money, but I guess I was wrong. Well I sure hope Stutter (12G in 17), Morgan (8G in 20), Mheuka (7G in 11) and McNeilly (21G in 25) seal the deal and make us use what we have (bought) instead of just buying more stuff. With so many of our academy strikers performing SURELY 1 of them is worth some minutes in the Prem. It baffles me how none of them even got a cameo appearance.

100% agree. Earlier in the season Jackson looked like a mess but he has played really well for a good stretch now with still loads of potential. DDF has looked really good against some high end competition at burnley. Also, watching Richard’s, that kid is an absolute unit. Idk how consistent he is but he looks different out there.

It wasn't a 'mismanaged injury' and he didn't 'agrivate a thigh injury', the intial pre-season injury that kept him out was an ankle injury, upon his return against palace he picked up a new and unlated 'thigh injury'.

it doesn't need to be the exact same body part for it to be related. Problems with your feet can create problems with your back, so on the outside it looks like a back injury but that is just because that was the weak point that the instability finally settled in and showed symptoms. It's very common for joint injuries to result in muscular problems as the muscles try to compensate and protect the joint.

I hate to say it but injuries are everywhere for every team, look at the Liverpool side we faced in the cup :/ we have just been extra unlucky. I like Reece James but it looks like he’s slowly turning into the next Luke Shaw

I have wondered whether or not the intensive training style is sustainable in this modern era where players seem to be playing so many more games. With players playing upwards of 70 games in a season and an increase in international competitive games which leads to players being less likely to be rested, the general rise in injuries is unsurprising and once you have a few players out, you can't rest and rotate as much which leads to more injuries and the spiral continues.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they aren't making it so the players are injured constantly, but having the lads fit and Poch having more options is never a bad thing

@@Cal-CFC Well with keepers it's considerably harder. I really don't think we'd would have seen Petrovic if it wasn't for Sanchez getting that injury. With attackers is so much easier. As a coach you can just throw them in towards the end without much risk. While we didn't exactly have many moments in which a game was decided for us by the 80th minute, there were still enough opportunities to hand towards Washington. But that didn't happen. I think Poch just doesn't like him. Either he's clearly not ready for the Prem yet, or it's a Maatsen situation in which Poch just doesn't know what he's looking at. I'm thinking it's the former but I hope it's the latter.

Tbh Washington doesn't have a really special ability, his dribbling is mid, he can score close-range goals, but he is pretty high. He is simply not good enough rn to start, but I hope he can proves people wrong

Add those 4 and we’re a different team. I remain confounded by (a) the unbridled criticism of Poch who came in thinking he was going to HAVE all those players and (b) the extent to which people are so ready to blame the team for every injury.

Chelsea signed lavia injured, he passed the medical as it was noted what the injury was and that aspect of the medical was ignored, he was then rushed back in Dec before he was fully ready and aggregated the injury further. If the injury he signed with was inspected properly and noted correctly he probably wouldn't have passed and been signed last summer, he could have stayed at Southampton to recover and picked up cheaper in January where he would have been closer to returning. Our medical team needs to improve.

I’m all for using all the young strikers we have, but the question is, do we need to hire a proper strikers coach? I mean someone who can teach, inspire, and squeeze the best outa these young cats. I agree a top tier talent would be fantastic, but would they fit into the fold, or change the dynamic of the squad so much we couldn’t adjust? Jackson is a bargain but needs grooming and polishing. With Broja on loan, there should be opportunities for bench or academy players if Pochettino is bold, brave and brazen. Of course the board has to approve. With 8 to 10 remaining, why not experiment. I dare the club to step out of its comfort zone. Upset the apple cart. Discover the next Palmer, Gusto, Petrovic! What about Washington, Stutter, other best academy strikers (14) including loanees - Burstow, McNeilly, Richards, other.

At many other clubs Donnell would be getting a chance with first team. We prefer to go out and sign 4 other young strikers. Complete fed up with owners tbh No pathway at all for academy players 🤷🏼‍♂️

I've changed my mind about Gallagher following the England matches. Seeing Gallagher do his normal routine of running around and clearing up, which in reflection, seemed to cause chaos and then seeing most of the same squad playing without him putting in a totally different performance. So perhaps having players who just manage their own space and responsibility, rather than possibly relying on someone sweeping in and dealing with it for you. Tactically Gallagher has always been lacking, but perhaps he effects others tactical ability?

I like Casadei and he proved his class at Leicester, but to bring him back and not play him when we have a problem in midfield seems daft. Ref Lavia, we bought a guy who was injured for 58 million. He may prove to be great later but another 58 million we should not have spent on an injured player. How did the medical dept approve this when they knew he was struggling. Would we still be owing 110 million by June had we arranged a contract based on when he was fit. I also ask if you think these trips to USA with the standard of the pitches is in fact a good idea. Didn't Lampard get a bad injury out there as well as Loftus Cheek who tore an achillies tendon and was out for ages. I heard a guy on sky say the winter world cup affected players but ours were injured prior. Any other suggestions.

Maybe I'm too optimistic, but IMO if you can get Osimhen you do it, but if you can't, dont buy another striker just for the sake of it. Jackson has improved, we'll get Nkunku back, and you have 4 or 5 more young players that need first team training and minutes. So keep 1-2 of those and loan the rest.

Why spend 140mil. Keep Richards and Washington at the academy, bring in Datro and Donell. Two promising natural strikers is better than none. Chelsea have already played two seasons without a striker. Put that money towards Williams, Messinho and Bento. Petrovic has looked good, however, there are times where I believe he could have reacted quicker/better to some goals received. Not sure he has that Peter Czech X-factor.
