I hear you but we got sixth with poch playing colwill leftback, chiwell leftwing, palmer false 9, enzo 10 with Gallagher in the 8 pushing up. Caicedo alone in a midfield and jackson being a whole heep of chances. We were only playing trough our rightside because our leftside was dead. Not to mention an avarage of about 11 injuries to players like nkunku who’s had 2, 20+ g/a season right before joining us, Enzo was playing with hernia and lavia played 30 min This season we should have a leftside with neto/sterling and cucurella. Players will not play out of position and we have decent/good depth in every position (except striker but they’re talking about osimhen so who knows) and most importantly new medical team. In short we were horrendous last season and finished 6th. We didn’t make this much improvement to finnish same or worse than horrendous.

New manager doesn't = start from scratch. We're meant to be progressing. The next step for Poch was top 4 who you didn't need to sack. So the trajectory must continue we cannot go back. For me we have to make top 4. Anything less than 5th is a backwards step. And Chelsea fans need to be sensible and don't scream Maresca out any failure this season is on the board.

Chelsea wasted the first half of last season and struggled to recover. 66 - 72/75 pts, that's 3 or 4 extra wins, quite doable. Several had surgeries, some recovering from 1 yr off, few had good COPA & EUROS. If key players are healthy, we field a stronger, more competent team. But we are still doing business. The starting 11 are not settled or gelled. Areas to address: goalkeeping, CB pairing, striker. Once the transfer market is done, the team suitation will become clearer. The dust will settle till Jan 25. The owners are restless and ruthless. The medical team has changed. Set piece coaches have been added. So more is expected. The coaching staff has to lower the noise and chatter. Pick a team on player merit and performance. Pinch some wins in the first 5 months, 12 to 14 wins.

good analysis but we are not going to be anywhere near top 4 with that shambles of a defence with this system. adding felix or oshimen is not going to make us any less vunerable at the back. there are far too many "too cool for school" flair players with not enough grit and hardworking players. that's not how you build a team in the premier league.

Chelsea can make top 4 because they have the squad strength in terms of numbers and not cohesiveness of the unit. There are more stable teams like Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester United who have the same manager and the same system as of last season, that counts for a lot when playing a team game. But we would see from the first 5games how Maresca has quickly infused his ideas into the team, wish them all the best though because we need more top teams to be good to make the league more competitive.

I think people need to go and rewatch pep first pl season at city . Even he had trouble in implementation of his passing out from the back play and conceded silly goals . I expect similar from maresca first season . Top 4 is a must though i just feel like its gonna be a messy season with some amazing performances and some games we dominante but just dont have the defence to see out games and win and drop points . It's going to be difficult, mainly because most other teams looking so settled & you got a new manager plus the usual squad uncertainty. Unpredictable situation. Liverpool will be interesting too, Slot system could go badly wrong in the premiership imo, & if he starts to lose the players confidence he could be toast.

Hence for me if we don't get top 4 this year, the directors(or whoever's in charge of the overall on-pitch policy) need to leave or at least be demoted. We shouldn't require 3 seasons just to compete for top 4 and barely be confident of reaching it. Other clubs with lesser resources done better. What we do with Maresca leave it to the next director.

I personalky believe our ability this season is not in whom we sign or the coach,its in the fact that over 20 players are in their second season,unloke last season where even Enzo, Mudryk, goalkeepers,Disasi,Gusto, Caicedo,Gallager,Palmer,madueke,jackson,Nkunku injured but still in their first full season. Lavia Nkunku,james ,chilwell apmost out for the season. Now this is not yhe same,the whole team has been their for over a season. Newcastle and Villa managed it. With competent folks up top and the resources we have it shouldn't even have been a question. City in their project never dropped out of top 4, Liverpool and Arsenal started with relatively lesser resources (hence the time excuse). It's 3rd season into the project/process. No excuses for us.

Mudryk and Enzo have been so poor since they arrived at Chelsea fans need to see the reality and not drool over world cup Enzo and youtube Mudryk. If they don't perform they need to be sold. This is should be their last season to prove. Carney and Conner have performed better the Enzo to put it in to perspective. The Defenders wow basically a new line without Silva and Trev.
