I love this interview. Thanks to Kelly and Chelsea for so beautifully describing the journey that happens when you think you are okay but then you blow a gasket and manage to find your way back into the "repair shop" (aka therapy). As you talked about white privilege I kept thinking about how therapy is also a white privilege. I don't think that this thought is an assumption. I appreciate how all of these honest conversations bring up additional important topics. We have so much ground to cover if there is any hope of healing. Thanks for keeping it all on the table. Seriously.

As a child of immigrants, yes therapy is a privilege. Not many people in my immediate community be it family, friends, folks on the block, or the school/community personnel “promote” or “advise” use of therapy simply because it’s a tricky part of healthcare and it’s hard to navigate much less something that they are not exposed to. Culturally, there is stigma and not enough education about it. I hope this changes.

This is a great interview. I clicked on because Chelsea is hilarious, but this was deep! I'm loving your work, Kelly. I've long been a fan of your music, and thought, "Kelly Clarkson is doing a TV show? Oy vey," but you truly bring much more to the table with these interviews - they help enlighten and deeply touch people! Thanks for being your fabulous self!

This was a great interview. All of it! Like I said in the preview clip, glad Kelly and Chelsea had this conversation and glad Kelly and the show team are allowing these type of conversations to happen. Even if it makes people uncomfortable and angry. I hope it brings some positivity and instead of getting angry, people learn. There are a lot of resources out there. Even a quick Google search goes a long way! (And if there are negative responses to this comment... like there were in the preview video...I advice you put that energy into learning and growth.) Have a good day. :)

I feel bad for Chelsea because I know people who were devastated when Obama was elected POTUS. I never understood what an impact the election had on people. I did not vote for President Obama but when he was elected president I respected him as a human and most definitely as our president. It’s difficult for me to understand how one single person can hate another person so much without truly knowing them. I had to separate myself from two very good friends because their hatred towards Obama was to much. I recently had to stop speaking to another friend because his hatred towards Trump was too much for me. I’m happy Chelsea was able to receive the therapy and release the anger and old learned behaviors. Wishing you all the best Miss Chelsea 😇
stephanie parido I have no hate for either. My POTUS candidate had to back out. The Democrats would not support him so he had zero chance. They wouldn’t even invite him in the D debates. Yet both parties are asking his advice during this Covid. I was never trying to compare Obama and Trump. I was stating that it’s very sad when a person could be so upset over the election outcome. I see you too are upset. My candidate is out but it doesn’t lead me to spew venom.

Therapy is not a white privilege. Therapy is a decision. Therapy is offered to anyone willing to accept. You do not need to walk into an office suite and sit in an oversize chair for therapy. Therapy can be gathering friends who are going through the same issues you are and meeting once a week or once a month and talking about issues. The biggest part of therapy is getting our thoughts out and speaking about those memories that come out in the middle of the night like roaches when you turn the light on. I did 12 weeks of intensive outpatient therapy and would meet three times a week with eight other women and all we did was talk while the therapist lead our group. I wish everybody nothing but the best and I pray everyone needing therapy can find some form to get some relief whether it be writing in a journal or meeting with a group of friends or sitting in the big oversized chair.

I follow a professional psychologist on KZbin with a channel called Psychology in Seattle. He's awesome and he's mentioned that sometimes your first or even you second therapist isn't the right therapist for you and it's okay to try out different therapists if you don't feel like you're getting anything out of your sessions. Sometimes therapists will use different tactics that don't work for everyone so it's better just to find a new one until you feel it's a good fit.
@mmc85394 жыл бұрын
I’ve probably gone to over 10 therapists throughout my life, and it can take awhile to find a good “fit.” I suggest looking for someone that specializes in what you’re looking to address. Also look for someone who utilizes treatment methods you feel will be most beneficial (CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc...). Unfortunately, it can be a long and frustrating process. I can relate and empathize with you. I have severe PTSD (along with several co-morbid mental disorders). I’ve found I respond better to brain spotting, trauma-based CBT, DBT, and other complementary therapies like yoga while EMDR, exposure therapy, and prolonged mindfulness exercises and meditations exacerbate my symptoms.
