With all the bad tackles in that final no player went down rolling around on the ground pretending they were hurt and try to get opponents booked or sent off. They just got up and got on with it. Football was played by real men in those days not the wimps you get now.

I was at the replayed final, it was brutal, but a game played by men, fully committed to the badge, in truth Leeds outclassed us in the first game at Wembley, but we hung in there and in the replay moved Ron Harris onto Eddie Gray, who had tormented us at Wembley Harris brutal no nonsense tackling negated Gray's involvement. We were still second best for most of the match, but hung in again and unlike the posers representing us last Sunday, we became stronger in extra time and saw Leeds off

Great era to play in and every team had great players and I was lucky to be part of a great team and to win the FA CUP against a great Leeds team was really special. It was really tough games to play in especially the Old Trafford one where there were tough challenges but if players went down they just got up and played on as that was football in those days.
