Saw this notification and couldn't even really believe it was true. Really looking forward to this album! However, I have to say that it sounds pretty straight-forward drone/metal compared to her previous work. I loved Abyss' heavyness, but I'm a bit sceptical about those newer tracks (The Culling, Static Hum, ...). However, Chelsea never disappointed me so far and I'm sure I'll just have to get used to it and I will love Hissspun.

I feel like i can hear some black metal influence ever so slightly in some of Chelsea’s songs, I think she has said she takes influence from the atmospheric element of black metal, the white noise and desperate strained vocals. And like black metal, it’s like my body temperature drops and I feel physically cold when I listen to her music. She’s truely an artist.

This reminds me of the Chelsea I fell in love with in 2012, just a bit fuller-sounding (heavier drums, a more pronounced guitar solo; same 'verb-drenched vocals). I liked Pain is Beauty and Abyss overall, but I've always felt she's better suited with guitar-backed instrumentals, whereas those albums were more electronic/industrial. If this song is any indicator, I feel I'm going to especially enjoy this album.
