I started the season worried. Trading Gallagher for KDH and letting go of Chalobah while keeping Badiashile and Fofana were not good moves in my eyes. Plus, I didn't think Maresca was going to do much here. It screamed of another Potter appointment (i.e. a young manager who was moderately successful at a lower club). I'm still waiting on two more things: 1) Can we beat teams like Brighton and Forest at home when they'll likely pack it in and try to counter on us? 2) Can we consistently get results throughout the season and not just have a decent run two or three times a season? However, I will say I've seen more from Maresca than I was expecting. First thing I'm impressed with is his ruthlessness. With such a big squad, I think you need a manager who's willing to make big cuts to keep things from getting out of hand. And the second thing is his tactics. Again, we'll see how he deals with teams packing it in against us, but at least on the road, he's shown that he can set us up to be difficult to break down and dangerous on the break. So am I excited for this season? Not fully yet, but I have hope that I didn't have after a pretty abysmal preseason.

Chelsea overall squad over the last few years has arguably - at times - been the most stacked squad in Europe. At the moment we definitely have the most stacked squad in Europe in terms of depth. It’s a group of players that is definitely capable of winning trophies. It just comes down to how things are managed.

As a Chelsea fan I can say that this season, the team actually has cohesion. Two years ago and last season it all felt a little fickle. Now the team feels like a unit and the tactical side seems to suit these players. I don’t think they can push teams like city or Arsenal quite yet.
