So cute! When my son had his tongue tie clipped it helped relieve some of the pain from breastfeeding. Not sure if you’re experiencing any, but my son’s latch was rough beforehand. Our second boy is due next week and I’m going to have the hospital check to see if he has one before we leave. If so hopefully they can take care of it asap. To each their own. Good luck!

HE'S SOOOOO CUTE 💜 I'd recommend seeing a speech-language pathologist about the lip tie. I'm not a mom yet but I'm studying to be a speech-language pathologist and that's in our scope of practice. They would be able to assess his situation and give you the pros and cons of keeping/removing the lip tie. Hope that helps. Thankful for your beautiful family and all that you're doing to serve the Lord!

My son had a tongue and lip tie, he was gaining weight well, I had the procedure done, it wasn't fun for me, but honestly it was the best decision, my milk also came in alot more, his feeds became shorter and longer in between, like was was getting more off in one feed rather than always wanting to be attacked to me

@@ChelseaandNick my husband has a tongue tie that wasn't caught. His mom just thought he was refusing the breast. He has a stutter sometimes now and I can see how that can be frustrating. Hopefully he will have it cut when he gets his wisdom teeth out, but the dentist said his speech pattern is pretty solidified now at 21. Don't know if that helps, but I know you'll do your best Chelsea! Loves and hugs to you ❤️❤️❤️

@Chelsea and Nick Multiple of my children had tongue and lip tie. 2 of my older ones, I lost my milk supply fairly quick. I didn’t realize that the were tongue tied. My 5th child we had the procedure done on the seventh day. I also have homebirth. My sixth child had lip and tongue tie. I did not realize that the had a lip ties till the was older. We did have the tongue-tied fixed but not the lip tie and I also lost my milk with him. I think he was a week old. I would get mastitis a lot. Our 7th was a lip tie only. I ask the Doctor to check for both and she said he didn’t have either. I struggled with nursing for about seven months before I realized he did have a lip tie and that’s why nursing was so difficult with him. I was able to work through it and nursed until he was 22 months old. He stayed pretty tiny though. Our oldest son had cerebral palsy so we had speech therapist in her home. Their opinion is that you should have it fixed has a baby because it can cause speech problems. None of my experiences were bad on fixing the tongue ties. I highly suggest doing. My two little boys who had lip ties both fell around a year and a half and busted their lip ties open when they hit their face on the ground. Likely if you don’t have it done they’ll do it to themselves when they’re learning to walk or run. Your nursing experience will be far better and far easier. It will help with postpartum depression. There will be less crying. I had postpartum depression after my second child who now that he’s older I am know that he is tongue-tied. The tongue tie did not cause postpartum depression but the stresses of it helped bring the emotions out more.

My little boy had a tongue and lip tie which made for very painful breastfeeding and multiple breast infections. Within a week of getting his ties cut I noticed a difference no breast infections (yet!) almost pain free nursing ( will take him some time to relearn how to latch) also less belly aches and spit up. So depends if your are having trouble due to his ties I'd recommend getting it fixed now. It's also hard to know if it'll affect their speech later in life for us we felt it's best to fix it now.

If it's not interfering with his latch it can wait it may grow out to not needing a procedure in the future. If you feel you shouldn't don't. I'm not a brest feeding expert but a dental assistant. If he's latch is good leave it.

In my personal opinion it is a good idea to get the tongue and lip ties fixed because it can affect how his palate develops and his sleep/breathing later in life
@1girlcool.3 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to get the procedures and it's not life-threatening that he needs them you could always do kind of like physical therapy where you basically massage those areas you can talk to a baby chiropractor or your doctor or your lactation specialist and they can give you exercises and things you can do to help your baby without the procedure and they recommend those things and prescribe those things for after the procedure for like recovery so those might help even if you don't do the procedure

No, it didn't affect my speech either! My mom said I looked funny eating an icecream cone 🍦 which I somewhat remember how difficult it was. My mom just wanted me to be able to freely use my tongue! I'm glad she waited but also glad that I have the full ability to move my tongue.
