As a Swede, I thought it was funny to hear about the party thing because they gave you a soft & polite answer😂 Both JRK & Björn are very unfiltered when they speak Swedish and indeed they’re partying hard. We have many of them in the Swedish national team 😂 also love their Swenglish when they talk to each other and not to the interviewer. It’s really weird to speak English with a Swede and it just happens naturally. JRK’s Swedish farmer accent shines through sometimes 🇸🇪😂 True about the meatballs and IKEA. For us Swedes, they are pretty much "semi-finished" because we are used to eating homemade meatballs which are in a completely different league. If you live abroad though, I can imagine Swedes going to IKEA to eat meatballs. Breakfast is very individual, but I would say that Swedes generally follow the same track in one thing: That we don’t like to eat sweet in the morning. Maybe if you wait an hour or two. But we usually want something "fresh" and high in fibre. Like porridge, yoghurt & cereals, boiled or scrambled eggs, avocado sandwiches, kvarg, smoothies etc. We are very routine bound to function and we eat smaller meals but several times per day. Every 3-4 hours. And!!! Coffee is very important! In all of Scandinavia. All our countries top the list of the world’s biggest coffee consumers. But that’s why I think they said those things about the English sausage. It’s something we Swedes associate with lunch or dinner, not breakfast.

A noble defence of the full english breakfast 🍳 It made me proud to be english. I'm slightly envious of the Scandi education system that seems to be able to churn out such well spoken and well rounded people en masse.
@baverfjant2 ай бұрын
I don't think our education system is the biggest part behind why we speak fluent English. I remember hearing from my Spanish and German friends that they have the same amount of English in school as we do, yet their English is way worse. But they dub everything on TV, while we don't dub anything unless it's for smaller children. So we go through life consuming a lot of media in English, with subtitles. I think that helps us a lot.
@dmoore1672 ай бұрын
@@baverfjant I find that v.interesting. Whatever the reason you are doing it very well is all I can say. 👍 It's a credit to you as a people.
@baverfjant2 ай бұрын
@@dmoore167 Appreciated :) I believe it's the same thing for all of Scandinavia. And Netherlands too. Their English is great and they also don't dub everything.
@cynic70492 ай бұрын
@@baverfjant Well that we do not dubb is a huge factor. But even if German and Spanish School have the same amount of time they (at least until recently) focus on learning the grammar and the rules while in the Nordic countries the School focus on how to speak and to communicate. Spain have another small disadvantage, their mother tongue in not a Germanic one so they have a slightly harder time to understand the language structure of English.
@RITA-gc2dvАй бұрын
@@dmoore167 I'm Swedish, so I can only speak for Sweden, but I'm pretty sure it's very similar in Norway & Denmark. But we learn English basically from the day we are born. A big reason is that we’re exposed to the English language. Dubbing in general is very controversial in Sweden, based on a social norm and respect for other languages. So on TV, media etc. you hear the original languages, but with Swedish subtitles. English films & series are very popular and something we watch. Dubbing is only available for young children who haven’t learnt to read. Which children in Sweden generally learn by the age of 4-6. As soon as you learn to read, our parents want us to watch English with Swedish subtitles. Both to practice our English listening comprehension, but also Swedish reading comprehension. The Swedish school system has 3 compulsory subjects: Swedish, English and Maths. In other words, English is as much valued in our education system as the Swedish language. In school, it’s mainly British English that we learn and use, but we also learn the different vocabularies of British, American, Australian etc. English. When it comes to the UK, we also practise listening to the different accents to be able to understand Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish, but also the Scouse accent (which is very different). "Why don't the Swedes speak with a British accent then?" You might be thinking! It's because we mainly think it's something that symbolises your countries and people. So it is us showing respect to you. Even if we adapt the vocabulary and spelling (as I do in this comment) to British English. We speak with a, what we call it, Scandinavian English accent. But I'm sure our players in England could speak with a British accent if someone asked them to. Here are some basic things about English in our education system and society that apparently (as you pointed it out) make us manage to master the English language pretty well 😁 All the best from Sweden 🇸🇪🤝🏴

There are two drawbacks. The television presenter does not know Spanish and the Colombian player does not know English. However, it could be done with a guest interpreter. It woud be a great interview. Pd: Maira, beyond being a good soccer player, is a great person, and she is also an indigenous person from Sibaté Colombia. Chelsea are on fire, your defence is terrified. They have begun the season in great form and the odds are firmly in their favour to win the league title for a sixth time in a row, though City will be pushing them very hard. In the Champions League I would find a face-off with Barcelona to be epic, like last season, two very evenly matched sides and potentially it can go either way.

My question is….I’ve heard at least 4 different pronunciations of Kaneryd. Is the one this announcer used the correct way? She is one of my favourite footballers. I’d love to see other sports leagues do something like this.
@RITA-gc2dv2 ай бұрын
I’m Swedish 👋🏻 It wasn’t correct, but I also need to give credit to the announcer because it was one of the best pronouncing I’ve heard from an English person. But here I’ll give you some instructions of how we pronounce the letters in Swedish: J = Y (as in you & yellow) K = C (as in cat & can) I = ee (as in deep & sleep) E = E (as in let & pet) Y = Y (as in injury & angry) A & O are usually longer pronounced like “aa” (as in far & ball) and “oo” (as in too & food) So in English pronouncing: Yoo-haa-naa Ry-teeng Caa-ne-ry-d The letters I, Y and J are the letters messing with you English speakers. So focus on those letters in particular. The announcer in the video did both “Johanna” & “Kaneryd” pretty well but struggled on “Rytting” and the RY-sound is pronounced in the exact same way as in: Inju-RY Ber-RY Fer-RY And the I is pronounced like I said earlier “ee” or much easier: I in Swedish is pronounced like the E in English. Good luck from Sweden 🇸🇪🙌🏻

It´s not so hard to learn english for swedes.. A newer theory says that english is based on people speaking old norse with a lot of anglo-saxon words and grammar... F.ex. They and them, in swedish De and Dem. But young people often replace them with Dom...PLural: They are, in older swedish 60-70 years ago, de äro.. And we have a lot of loans from dutch and german, often similar in english.. De lärde sig engelska hemma./They learned english at home. Han åt ett knäckebröd med kaviar/He ate a cracker with caviar.. Hon passade bollen till honom/She passed the ball to him... Han tog din öl! He took your beer! So if you don´t know the phrase, you can guess, and it´s often right....

At Barcelona or Bayern Munich, Ibrahim Rabbaj would be nearing first team action and it doesn't have to be because he's strong or ready, no it's just the trust a coach decides to put in him with 15, 20 minutes when you're winning to just announce to the world that we have a 15 year old who has score over 60 goals and assisted another over 52 in 40 games! I want Chelsea to finally give pathway to these talents without necessarily going out on loan. Case study of Saka and Foden. I trust Maresca, this would be his legacy as a coach if he can mould this player.
@BSMAG872 ай бұрын
Umm, I'm pretty sure most of the loans Cobham graduates went on served them very well (almost all of the lads currently playing across Europe's top leagues went on successful loans) Also, where are all the 16/17 year players that Bayern are nurturing? They don't have a track record of doing that
