Good demonstration Alan, and a very nice result. I use Phillips cold Blue, which is a single chemical. Mixed 1 to 3 with water. The mixed chemical can be used over and over until exhausted. I clean the part first in soapy water to degrease it, and after bluing, coat in oil, to stop rusting. Cheap and very economical. I did a little video on it about 3 months ago. Cheers Nobby

Thanks for sharing 👍 I recommend using a face shield when using the Blacking Solution. You don't wanting it splashing anywhere nere your face. I speak from experience.

Items came out very nice, bit worrying "Alkaline" was spelt wrong. Thanks for sharing.

Probably just comes from a non-English speaking country. English words get misspelled every day on products coming out of China.

As long as it wasn't spelt a-l-c-o-h-o-l, 'coz then I would be in trouble.

Hi Alan Does the blacking process “coat” the parts? I was just wondering whether a close fitting pair of parts would still fit together after blacking? Thanks Peter

Hi Peter. The process changes the outer layer of steel to a black oxide the parts should still fit together
