@jaimesanchez95454 жыл бұрын
You mean it is hard for a fresh cheme graduate to find a job?
@alysar20074 жыл бұрын
@@jaimesanchez9545 I haven't graduated yet so I don't know. But I mean, chemical plants build with a lot of considerations and mostly not in the "urban'' area. They preferably built the plant near the sea so they can utilize sea water for cooling water, or near the raw material source. I had an internship at a fertilizer company, and they build the plant close with the gas well to reduce the cost of gas transferring. But actually, working in a plant ain't the only option. You can be a consultant for building a new plant, like you're becoming the architect of the plant or consultant for waste management, corrosion prediction, etc. As I'm mentioned earlier, chemeng learn wide aspects of engineering (we even learn about food tech and bioeng in my college), and I think there'll be plenty of job vacancies for cheme graduates

There are a lot of great locations and jobs for chemEs in good cities (I am currently living in San Francisco and have lived in Houston before too)! Besides more traditional chemical engineering (oil and gas refining, specialty chemicals) there is so much out there. I’ve worked in oil and gas for the past 5 years but pharma is also a major growth sector for chemEs. You also have food manufacturing, even medical devices, and so much more!
@Shemzinho4 жыл бұрын
Recent chemE graduate here. ChemE isn't impossible to do well in, it just requires a substantial amount of work compared to other disciplines. As long as you network properly, put in enough hours, stay on track with deadlines you should be fine. Lastly, you'll realise very quickly that there's not much chemistry in it :D
@rob54654 жыл бұрын
What advice would you give to a very introvert chemE junior, I have not yet looked into internships because quite honestly I’m afraid of not being up to standard and the social ramifications also put a dent on my confidence. How do you go about building up that workplace confidence and social capabilities to network w the correct people?
@Shemzinho4 жыл бұрын
I'd say don't make assumptions or put yourself down, if you're doing chemE it shows you're smart and have got a lot of potential. Internships are more to give you experience and help your application stand out from other competitors. You're not supposed to know everything otherwise there would be no need for college; the training you'll get will naturally boost your confidence because you're more seasoned. Usually a part-time job in something like retail will help in developing your social skills and talking to random people with different personalities.

Girl just gotta be ready to get messy in this job, its so dynamic and requires so many knowledge to a process rather than what you learned from school. (I haven't graduated yet, these are what I think rn when I started a coop during this pandemic, its so hard to learn the chemical processes or how the plant functions remotely TT)

Guys, speaking as a chemical engineer in the oil industry for the past 12 years, the course was difficult (Sheffield University), and the rewards are diminishing after graduation. If your aim was to make a good salary in oil and gas, I would suggest a rethink, as the industry is all but dead in the west for design work. The work is going to India and Korea. Think whether you want to risk constant bouts of unemployment every few years because of the oil price. The job itself is excellent and a challenge.
@farai2094 жыл бұрын
This is one comment that I will agree on. I am glad I did not go into the Oil & Gas. Go into water or pharmaceuticals, I went to (Bradford) & my MEng was water and pharmaceutical leaning and it is an industry that I have gone into and it has been rewarding and fulfilling.

dropped in 4th year? Man why to drop at that stage. I hear that most of the last year is just labs and projects and all hard - hardwork is mainly till the end of 3rd year. However, hope u are doing well in doing whatever u are doing.

Hi Jamie! I’m a chemE major who made the same mistake as you, choosing chemE bc I liked chemistry lol. I was wondering if you could talk a little about your job search process in a future video. Thanks and I love your vlogs ☺️

You gotta accept it how can people be this clueless thinking they only do experiments in chemistry? Like what the heck it's about science for that you need math and physics how else will you ever be to build something without all the acknowledge

Yeah, I thought I'd go for ChemE because "I like chemistry, and I'm not so good at physics" hah! The naivety! I'm on my 3rd year now though. Pretty good GPA too. Let's get it!
@luciliacatumbela90144 жыл бұрын
The thing is a few months ago I thought this degree was only about chemistry so because I didn’t like chemistry I put this degree out of the list but when I started to see this type of videos I started liking this degree and now I’m going to start in October 🙏

Ok I will enter as a freshman bsChE this year, I'll be back here after 4-5 yrs after I became a licensed Chemical Engineer. I will return here

Hai Yeonju, i really agree with your this video, because i'm majoring in chemical engineering and right now i'm in second semester. First i feel like, i choose chemical engineering because i like chemistry, but after i choose it, i talk to myself "wow it's so hard"😂😂...but, i think "it's okay, you can do it and don't be doubtful girl"..so yah until today i learn more and more about physics, math, and etc...it's so hard yeonju eonnie😅

This was helpful a little. I didn't have any questions, but I did want to see what you had to say as a graduate in chemical engineering. I love physics, chemistry and math classes. I love engineering period, so I chose this career path, starting at Lamar University soon, but glad to see what you had to say🤗
@coolpig964 жыл бұрын
Damn relatable, being a chem eng. graduate here. If u really like chemistry, seriously go for chemistry majors. Not chemical engineering. You'll only get to see chemistry in year 1, maybe a lil bit here and there. Then physics and maths all the way.
@taylorsteinborn32554 жыл бұрын
From a chem e student, i agree with all of this. Chem E is just Mech E but with molecules lol. & it’s all different types of material & energy balances plus economics

Hahaha 😂 I feel you. But actually chemistry runs through the end point if we really realize it, and it just act as a base on all the subjects that we learn. All the besttttt, I'm a final year degree (last semester) in Chemical Engineering Technology in Environment doing my internship currently 🤣 things shall passsssss
