On most ships with indian crew, yes. On multinational ships with mixed crew the culture has been different, only top 4 get their rooms cleaned by messmen

@@NITINCHAWLA I think it’ll be there in SMS manual. I have worked with multinational crews and my cabin used to be cleaned by messman weekly . But yes it’s a lot down to culture

Cabins on merchant ships have adhered to rather standard layouts and furniture from shipyards located in the Far East. Of course it's been a huge improvement considering that cabins once had painted steel bulkheads and cemented floors. But the biggest comfort that has been offered to both officers and ratings on medium sized ships and onward is the inclusion of a toilet in the cabin. Some yards do not construct the superstructure but have it fabricated elsewhere and transport it on a barge to the yard. I can see that your cabin is a bit small but justified given the overall size of the ship. It is functional though. If one really reflects on the time spent in the cabin it is only during hours of rest and when the toilet and shower has to be used. On a personal note, I had always preferred to watch a movie in the Officers Lounge even though my cabin had been provided with a TV and a DVD player. Of course with editing of videos being a necessity for a vlogger, the privacy a cabin offers is indeed valuable.

I do agree about the standard lay outs part! Its pretty much exactly the same between ships Of a certain type/ size these days. Ive seen certain ships being fabricated in a way where one part is built in one yard and another in another yard! The cabins on my ships are a bit small & yes the toilets are attached but not for all officers and crew 😅😅. Its true that i need the privacy to edit, but to be honest i do prefer watching movies n kicking bsck in my own space too🤭

Well depends, if you go to certain colleges the fee is higher, but u can check the differences in campus/ facilities and take a call.
