Love this video. So much more needs to be done. I am looking into recycling old clothes and reworking them.

Great statistics. It's really intense how much clothing is thrown away, especially when compared with the amount being simultaneously produced.

Hello. Do you know where you can buy all the machinery needed to do this process in a recycling factory?
@toomanymarys73552 жыл бұрын
It hasn't been commercialized. If you don't take care of the dyes, you will have extreme toxic waste, so this isn't something you can do without great care.

Hi! Thank you for spreading awareness through your video. May I ask if there are any publications regarding your processes to which I would love to read. Also, are there any challenges that your team has encountered when doing this project? What are those challenges? Thank you very much!

Do the solvents work for blended fiber (cotton/polyester blend)?
@toomanymarys73552 жыл бұрын
There are ionic salts that dissolve the cotton away and leave the polyester.
@toomanymarys73552 жыл бұрын
Some of them might dissolve silk and wool also though. But I think you can selectively coagulate them????

The powdered product. May I ask, is it possible to make it a concrete?

Thank you for posting this very demonstrative and educational video! It’s a first time for me to see exactly what it the chemical process, breakdown and extraction looks like! What do you think about the integrity of the fibre, because I have heard that the filaments weaken and shorten after one time of processing?
@paulalorenz42835 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the lovely comment, Amanda. I think you are referring to mechanical recycling, of which it is true that the fibers shorten with every time you do it. With chemical recycling though, you are dissolving the polymers that make up the fibers, therefore you don't get a loss in length but instead you fully regenerate the fiber. That's the big advantage of chemical recycling over mechanical recycling.

Hi@@paulalorenz4283 I want to know the complete process...can you please share the details ?

You get a rayon instead of a cotton with the cotton.

Very relevant. Would be very interested to know what progress you have made on this to-date. Has the process gone from lab to scale?

How can we seperate tio2 from polyester?
@toomanymarys73552 жыл бұрын
The polyester is dissolved. The tio is only in suspension and can be filtered.

Its a problem seen in all the recycle industries, problems in colecting, sorting, processing and logistic chains and throwing away valuable resources.

The world is about to undergo a demographic collapse, so the hysterical bits were not accurate nor helpful. It wasn't also clear about how cotton becomes rayon after this process. The rest was very nice.
