I have been watching your videos it has helped me out incredibly. I am in a Chemical Technician course at the community college.. Stumped on a question: 4. Solid barium phosphate dissolves into its respective ions at 25oC. Given that [Ba2+] = 1.5 x 10-2 M, find the value of Ksp. [ba2+}3 [po43-]2 I don't know how to approach this.
@georgeplatsakis7277
@georgeplatsakis7277 4 жыл бұрын
Let S moles of the salt were dissolved.Then Ba++=3S=1.5E(-2) therefore S=0.005.From Ksp expression:Ksp=(Ba++)^3 × (PO4)^2 =(3S)^3 × (2S)^2=108×S^5=108×(0. 005)^5= 3. 375 ×10^-10

May I ask. Why did the exponent become -31 from -29?
@rinikarmaker1037
@rinikarmaker1037 8 жыл бұрын
He divided the Ksp by 108, which is basically the same as 1.08x10^2, and if you recall in algebra, when you're dividing exponents: (10^-29)/(10^2) = 10^ (-29-2) = 10^-31 Hope that helped :) Happy studying!
