Ingredients:
Shrimp / Prawns - ½ kg (Cleaned)
Drumstick - 200g
Onion - 1 small (Thinly sliced)
Ginger - 1 big piece (Crushed)
Green chilly (Slit open)
Curry leaves
Tomato - 1 big (Chopped)
Kudampuli - 2 (Washed and soaked for 15 minutes)
Turmeric powder - ¾ tbsp
Red chilly powder
Grated coconut - ½ of a coconut / 4 handfuls
Cumin seeds - ¾ tbsp
Salt
Oil
For tempering:
Coconut oil
Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
Onion / Shallots
Dried red chillies
Turmeric powder - ¼ tbsp
Curry leaves
Steps:
Heat oil in a claypot.
Add onion, ginger, green chilly and curry leaves.
When the onion becomes soft, lower the flame and add turmeric powder. Sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add red chilly powder and sauté till the raw smell goes away.
Add prawns, drumstick, water, tomato, salt and kudampuli.
Increase the flame and bring it to a boil.
Cover and cook for another 10 minutes.
Grind coconut along with cumin seeds.
Add this to the curry and let it boil for another 5 minutes.
Switch off and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan for tempering.
Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Add dry red chilly.
Add shallots and curry leaves.
Add turmeric powder and roast on low flame.
Switch off and add this to the curry.
Leave it covered for a minute.
Enjoy the prawns drumstick curry with rice.
