Look, I'm vlogging! Here's a little taste of the last week and a half. We did chemo round 5 + recovery, I got out the house for a tea party AND ...am I becoming a Christmas vlogger??? I'm not. But I am getting into the holiday spirit. Turns out, it's FUN.

I had childhood cancer, and I used to get apple juice every time I had treatments, and now I can't even smell apple juice, even though it's been well over 40 years since I went through it. But having something to get you through your time is invaluable, so banana pancake it up as long as it works for you!

Thank you, Grace, for your videos. They have entertained me for so many years. Thank you to your mind for all the wonderful callbacks and puns and mischief you create. Thank you to your body for giving so much over the last few months. The sacrifices are visible, but not alarming in the way that you're musing about in this video. I see the effort, but you're still strong. I see the sickness, but the light and glow is not lost. You owe us absolutely nothing in these moments and I'm just really grateful. What I truly love about these vlogs is that I may just be dumb for not knowing more about what chemotherapy is like, but I always just pictured someone was never out of a bed for the entirety of diagnosis to remission/cure. While I get that there’s many days of not feeling well, I always imagined every single day from start to finish was just being hardly alive, but these show me you can sit on your own couch and watch tv, you can ride in a car, stand in your kitchen. I guess my point is, anyone about to (God forbid) go through this, they can see you don’t cease to exist during chemo. Life is just different. Albeit very uncomfortable, but I’m sure it’s got to be so comforting to someone out there to see you do things. And now I’ll go pray I didn’t just manifest it for myself 👀

Something Grace said at the beginning of this really stuck with me and it was about how she always think that people got diagnosed with cancer and then disappeared into a hospital or something for a while when in reality they are existing all around us. Thinking about this made me a lot more mindful of how I treat the people around me

I remember her saying that, and seeing her actively move about the world despite being in treatment rather than just hearing about it makes it so much easier to comprehend the experience. Even just watching what the infusions look like and seeing it’s not someone half blue laying in a bed and unable to speak puts such a different perspective in my mind.

My mom survived breast cancer twice and the first time I was really little and didn’t understand what was going on and the second time I was a self absorbed college student. Watching your videos has given me some insight to what she was going through and we’ve been able to talk about it because of your videos. Grace, the cleaning thing makes total sense. When my mom was going through treatment and wasn’t able to clean I would keep the house spotless. I was like a maniac with all of the cleaning I did.

You know I’m proud of you, so here’s a story. I went to a tea thing for a baby shower. It was so fancy! I felt really out of place as a trashcan human. That is until . . . The chicken and waffles course came out. It was a breaded chicken nugget on a quarter of an eggo. I was put to much ease about my place. ❤️

Dear Grace, I’ve looked up to you and wished you well for so many phases of your life. From New Jersey improv to new Los Angeles apartments to goose and boyfriends to drinks and allergies and everything in between. I feel like we’re sisters. This is just another phase, like the what’s up fuckers phase, that you will expand and grow out of. One day we will look back on this phase the same way we look back on you moving coasts, or taking on tv, or losing a whole channel. This is life, and we all can’t thank you enough for letting us in the way you do. Not to be sappy, but sometimes that sweetness is necessary. You’re our girl. We are all here for you, even if we don’t always say it. We love you. Also, on a completely other note- have you watched lessons in chemistry? Thank you for making these videos. My sister in law has cancer, and she is a woman of few words. And the family doesn’t like talking about the cancer in a blunt or honest way. My Mom is a survivor and advocate. She has metastatic disease so she will be on some form of treatment for the rest of her life. Her first time going through chemo I was 19, I went to a few rounds with her it’s amazing how much things have changed for the better. Sending you lots of love Grace. I haven’t made it through one of your videos without crying since you were diagnosed but it’s almost helping me heal in a way too. I’m appreciating and am going to make sure I hug my Mom tight when I see her tonight.

I can’t tell you how… life-affirming? this video is. Just the incredible positivity thru terrible times, finding the little joys like a purse (I don’t think this is an old term!) and still making things happen when tired like baking and vlogging and decorating! Just, wow. I feel like if you can do all this with cancer I can do literally anything. And I’m reminded again how important therapy and self-care is, because it shows!

If you still feel like reading books without having much energy, I highly recommend audiobooks! You can probably get them for free from your library. You can even slow them down if they're going too fast, or speed them up if they're going too slow. Also they're lovely to fall asleep to.

Grace I've been watching since the beginning but I'm one of those lurker weirdos! I just wanted you to know that the thought of getting cancer has been one of my OCD triggers for the longest. Through this journey with you, I feel like if my body decides to join the club of mutiny that I'll actually fight back and not be losing my mind. I used to vlog way back in early youtube and understand the weird dichotomy of not wanting to share your entire life, but also feeling as if you can use what you have to show experiences. Sharing this took and continues to probably take a lot from you. I really hope when this concludes and you've kicked it's ass that you'll rest up and consider taking a little day trip or longer with just you and Elliot so you can just feel all the emotions, especially the good ones.
