@Brian O'Kongkohr I don't think that he's "the best". One of the very, extremely good, definitely.

Hunyuan qigong comes from Hu Yao Zhen, also nicknamed "One Finger Conquers the World" who was the first teacher of Feng Zhi Qiang. Feng Zhi Qiang learned Chen Taijiquan from Chen Fa Ke who was a friend of Chen Fa Ke. Later Feng combined the two styles and resulted Hun Yuan Chen Shi Taijquan which use a lot of Chan Si Gong (silk reeling) and Hun Yuan Qigong in his forms

I think this is the xinjia er lu from Chen Fa Ke who is the master of Feng Zhi Qiang. I prefer the xingjia to the laojia. More comfortable to practise too.

I like this version of Master Feng's pao chui and his earlier version of the 48 form more than the later Hun Yuan version(s). The MA intention is a lot more clear here instead of the Hun Yuan version(s) that are closer to a qigong exercises.

your right. hunyuan is more chigong based. also has more silk reeling too. basically it's meant to upgrade the practitioner to huajin more effectively, thus the movements are much softer. there is still fajin it's just not hard. most Chen style people practice with harder fajin which can limit how far you can go internally and "stunt your development". that's why fend advocated becoming softer, which in turn makes you more powerful. hunyuan also includes practices from dai xinyi. that's the main reason his style of taichi stands out from all others. the incorporation of both his teachers teachings...Hu Yaozhen and Chen fake

Isn't this the 56 competition form, not Lao Jia Er Lu? Which is funny, since the narrator seems to be calling it Er Lu. I learned this as the 56 from a student of Chen Zheng Lei.

@aspiringbodhisattva This is Xin Jia Er Lu Pao Chui, not the 56 competition. Strange, the 56 is not a form recognized by the members of the Chen family, probably your friend learned it from another source, not of Chen Zhenglei
