這個是在講一部電影「金陵十三金釵」，抗日戰爭在南京十三位風塵女子跟女學生之間的故事。 開場是13位女學生的裝扮，但她們內裡其實是風塵女子。 紅絲巾很多時候表達鮮血，圍成一圈的紅絲巾表達南京城被圍，中間十字架的部分，意味犧牲。紅絲巾遮面意味遍地烽火。 最後風塵女子代替女學生進了賊窩，用街舞製造風塵女子跟日軍之間衝突的感覺，戰爭的不協調、不舒適、故意讓觀賞者感到不快。 最後一排女子談笑風生的前行是電影中非常重要的一幕，表達這些女人中的女人、英雄中的英雄，她們的瀟灑與撫媚，她們的自由與愛情。 如果知道這個故事會對這個編舞更有感觸吧～～

This is about the movie "Jinling Thirteen Beauties", which tells the story of thirteen prostitutes and female students in Nanjing during the Anti-Japanese War. The opening scene shows 13 female students dressed up, but they are actually prostitutes. Red scarves often represent blood. The red scarf formed in a circle represents the siege of Nanjing. The cross in the middle symbolizes sacrifice. Covering one's face with a red scarf means that there is war everywhere. In the end, the prostitute went to the enemy instead of the female student, using hip-hop dancing to create the feeling of conflict between the prostitute and the Japanese army. The incongruity and discomfort of the war deliberately made the viewer feel unhappy. The last row of women walking forward chatting and laughing is a very important scene in the movie, expressing these women among women, heroes among heroes, their chicness and charm, their freedom and love. here comes the negative and passive aggressive korean comments again, which you can always find on chinese videos. constantly claiming that the chinese has stolen their culture, but i wonder if these people have properly read up on history? is it only a one-way relationship like what these people constantly claim? with the way these people act and obsessively comment on chinese videos, it’s almost like a cult. on this specific video, they claimed that the qipao worn here is what is truly considered chinese, basically implying that apart from the qipao the other popular traditional clothing belong to the koreans instead. i’ve seen it so many times, koreans love to reduce chinese culture to just the qing dynasty and republican era, taking an entire country of very long history - much older than korea - and simply reducing all of that into just two eras. believe me, the chinese do not care about your hanbok when we have many of our own.

the choreography and story is based on the film “the flowers of war”, which is a fictionalised portrayal of real events that took place during the second sino-japanese war. it tells the story of schoolgirls who fled to a cathedral for refuge, later followed by a group of prostitutes who hid in the cellar. japanese forces then invaded the cathedral and demanded for the schoolgirls who weren’t hiding in the cellar to sing for them. basically the prostitutes decided to protect the schoolgirls by taking their place. they then disguised themselves as schoolgirls and hid knives they made in their clothes, and at the end, we see these “flowers of nanking” being led away by the japanese soldiers, their fate unknown, though it’s clear that they’ve martyred themselves for the schoolgirls’ freedom. i think the choreography expressed the bravery of the girls, comradeship between girls, and tragic nature of the story really well. the qipao, pipa (the instrument she held at the beginning), singing style, traditional elements of dance (fyi the choreography for this particular performance is not entirely traditional due to the nature of the program, they had to meld street dance into it as well (which is a whole umbrella term, look it up to see what it consists of)) are all very much parts of chinese culture.

If you follow Kpop when Cheng Xiao was active in Korean back then, you'd know that she's a well known in her Kpop area but even it's almost 4 years since she's inactive in Korean, she's still in Top 100 list of Kpop girl group member reputation every month until now. It's not because open dance popular than or not, but she never shows all these skill dance when she's in Korea. Anyway she just shows her aerial flip and gymnastics skill in ISAC, she's gone viral already that time (around 2016)
