Cher Is lame. Which is shes Gypsy or Cherokee? Either way both songs are contrived, shallow, and down right corny.🌽

She gave me all my fashion ideas 💡 I designed hip huggers, and alter them just right! Great ideas, costumes & ensembles! Got alot of complements. Po' kids learn to sew early! Haha! Always adore Ms. Cher and her long black hair!

This is one of THE greatest pop songs ever. No other hit song of the last 50 years sounds like this, and the song tells a compelling narrative aside from the whirling musical greatness. Such drama! Such storytelling! And that unique voice for the ages.

By 1969 and 70, and some while with no hits, it looked like Sonny & Cher were destined to recede into history as artifacts of the hippie era. Then in 1971, they put on a fantastically reviewed stage show that prompted CBS to try a variety series. Cher, once critically shy, unwilling to sing without Sonny, and determined to stay in fringe vests and jeans, changed her mind and, happily, met Bob Mackie. Along with carefully chosen popcraft tunes chaired by Snuff Garrett, the path to superstardom was now unimpeded.

LOVE this song...but if you watch closely, Cher goofed up her first two lines...the line is "my momma USED to dance for the money they'd throw," but she VERY CLEARLY sings, "my momma HAD to dance," bless her heart. But still a KILLER SONG! HAD to is in the last verse, of course.
@elizabayroff71062 жыл бұрын
I love her phrasing on "Rode with us to Memphis". It doesn't seem like it should be an important line in the context of the story but Cher imbues it with wistfulness and this knowing playfulness. This is why she is an icon.
