I didn’t know that a “basic fragrance” was a thing. 😂 I agree there is a place and a time for every fragrance. When I was a teenager I used a lot of Paris Hilton perfumes and Juicy Couture in my early twenties. Now I’m 32 and I became a Chanel girl. I’m in love with Coco Mademoiselle and I don’t care how many people wear it or have it in their collection. It’s really doesn’t matter for me. I wear it for me because I love it. I wear it for me ❤

Basic is a state of mind. My husband's favorite fragrance of all time on me is a $4 Avon vanilla body spray layered with Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion. Reminds him of when we met. I have fragrances which costs hundreds of dollars but it's the $4 one which gets all the love. Light Blue is my all time favorite fragrance. I used up 4 bottles last year alone😐

I have Bright Crystal Absolu and Yellow Diamond in my fragrance wardrobe and they are far from basic in my opinion. And Black Opium is definitely popular, I see why some would consider it basic but it’s a great sweet scent to mix with spicy and more masculine scents to give it a more femme vibe.

I like this video. Perfume snobs have to realize the average person may not want to or may not be able to spend $100+ on a bottle of perfume. My finances got better this year and I was able to take the jump and get several bottles of 100+ perfumes that's I've been wanting. Spending that amount of money for perfumes is never basic to me. Basic is $9.99 perfumes at Burlington/Ross/celebrity scents. One can never be basic when your perfume is over $100 🤣

I agree with your point of view Cheraye - I have and love Decadence, Gold Couture, Black Opium (I have the neon one but I like all of them), and I think it's sad that sometimes people are perturbed from buying a perfume they like because they develop a bad reputation such as La Vie Est Belle for instance. if you love it you wear it! The Pink Sugar, I know a very beautiful and affluent woman (she's a specialist of internal medicine near where I work) and she wears and ROCKS Pink Sugar, it's her signature scent and evertime I smell it and think wow she makes that smell incredible, and that's what we all do - we wear a perfume in our own way. I say all the power to anyone who wants to wear these "basic" fragrances :).

I’ve been in the YT fragrance community since Delicious Delights and Beauty Meow were the top content creators and lately I’ve noticed a lot of cattiness and negativity that I am just not here for. YT is being saturated with “Perfume collectors” that woke up one day and decided reviewing on YT would be their job and it’s not for everyone. Your channel is always uplifting, fun and light. I can’t imagine you creating content while angrily taking aim at perfume or anothers perspective of it. This community should be fun, light, entertaining not draining.

Cheraye dahling, I certainly hope Velvet Rose and Oud better not be considered basic because I finally got to smell it and it is good good! But seriously, I think of some perfumes as being lady like and polite, like Marc Jacobs Daisy. Maybe it is considered basic, but sometimes I like the idea of being classic and inoffensive and that is when I will wear a fragrance like Chloe or Daisy. Other times I want to smell like a boss so I will wear a beast mode fragrance like Le Lion, Grand Soir or Botega Veneta. Like you said, some of these basics we like, and there is always a time and place.

I think You’re great, super nice and said everything in a non offensive honest way, I looove juicy couture not the gold one but the original and the noir and I CAN admit that packaging is a bit much and tacky even lol. I can totally see how someone would say it’s basic. I hate when they call it juvenile tho or only for teens ehh again I blame the packaging for it tho. Versace Crystal Bright is the perfect pretty girl in the office vibe. Light Blue is a classic...classics are never basic! A basic fragrance for me would be anything I bought from Victoria’s Secret (years ago) especially that Pear Glacé lotion and body spray does that count? LOL 😂

I use yellow diamonds for the same , day time mall run and I have the deodorant to it so when I wear it I'm giving out hugs 🤣 Bright crystal has too many young memories for me and I'm over it because I wore it in my early 20s. Black opium is a for life with me and it's my fragrance of the day layered with intense cafe. D&g lb is a forever for me as well , I get my whole life with that having the hair mist, body lotion , intense and love is love ❤️. Coco mademoiselle I'm on my second bottle and that's also a for life fragrance. I feel like I've been wearing that forever because before I got my first bottle I wore diesel fuel for life for women and that's very similar. I haven't tried that marc jacobs one before but I know people respect it. I used to wear pink sugar in my early 20s as well but I revisit it when I wear the body cream to it. Its very fragrant and I layer it with oriana. I wear that juicy Couture to bed but I have xerjoff gran ballo with the lotion and that's an elevated niche version and I love it. I can't believe I'm so freaking basic🤣🤣🤣 having wearing all but one. That was fun gworl. ❤
