This is exactly what it's like helping a friend through a bad trip! The persons vibe starts flying all over the place from chill to sketch, to mad, to self conscious and to moments of overconfidence. Meanwhile, you have to let them go through the motions because anything you say adds to the paranoia, so you kind of just turn into an interactive npc that goes with whatever is happening until they calm down and sober up more. This video is indescribable. There is something so raw, so moving about this video that words cannot begin to convey what exactly this video is. Like the first sip of a fine ristretto on a cold, melancholy day, "Can I Tell You Something?" thrusts the viewer into its world, eager and willing with its thrilling pacing, creative camera angles and lighting, and expertly crafted dialogue. Just before you can before too comfortable with the characters, this short film drops the viewer from their dopamine induced high, as the video's characters reveal depth that could make the writer of the "Godfather" grovel at the thought of "Can I Tell You Something?"'s complexity. The film slaps the viewer with a feeling all too similar to that which plagues us here, reminding them that time is a cruel mistress, changing the ones we love whether we like it or not. It's taking me all my willpower not to speak about the ending, but it leaves the viewer feeling baffled and distraught, all the while with its remarkable social commentary on empathy and the way we treat each other. This film is nothing short of a masterpiece, and even saying that does it no justice. 10/10
@kevinanchondo96895 жыл бұрын
I would agree with you on your opinion but, on sentence 8 where you said "creative camera angles and lighting" I would have to come to a rebuttal. This camera angle shows a distant cloud in the background approximately 7,000 feet away at 4:08 that completely distracts me with a very controversial shape which really just gives me odd and not so chill vibes. This piece of film was almost worth the title of a "masterpiece" but unfortunately this horrible camera angle completely destroyed its chance of that title.

we've all been there. you're alone outside, either walking to somewhere or just having a walk for no reason. you have a lot of free time that day, just chilling. then you see an old friend, but you're not really in the mood to chill with anyone at that time. but you're feeling a bit anxious and don't wanna upset him, so you STILL start chilling with him. you made that choice, but it feels like a chore so you start guilt tripping your friend for making you chill. also while chilling, you wanna share what's on your mind but can't really put it to words. you get even more anxious which causes restlesness you think: maybe changing the environment a bit will change the vibe of the chilling). but that doesn't help at all. you keep wandering a bit more, but because you had no original plan and it's all spontaneous you find trouble finding a comfortable location to chill. you're still ITCHING to say what's on your mind, but can't find the words. in the end you feel slightly lost, both mentally and geographically. your anxiety from your mom-dad situation is making things worse so eventually you call it quits and depart. you feel somewhat weak and used - you didn't feel like chilling, but still agreed to chill even though you didn't feel like. I think this video is a great observation of how anxiety from serious problems in our lives (when your mom becomes a dad) affects our social interractions - you feel like you have no agency, so you agree to chill even if you don't feel like it.

I can translate Californyeez. Dude with the mom-dad went to the park subconsciously and ran into a friend he didn't want to open up to. Weed dude just chillin but pushes hanging out because he doesn't know the sitch. Mom-dad dude hangs but breaks down and goes after his friend because he is upset. He dips and the other dude apologizes for interrupting his alone time. They aren't gonna see each other in a bit because dad-mom dude has things to work out.

What are you- Do you got anything to do? Matt: Not right now. *Matt stands insecure and anxious with his hands in his pocket* Chravis: Do- Do you just want to hang out? Like chill? Matt: Yuh *Matt walks back with confidence and readies himself for a dap* Chravis: Oh cooi, sick. You all good bro? Matt: Nah I'm chillin *Both of them exchange a dap* Chravis: Ok cool *Matt plops himself up on the bench and claps his cheeks for a hot second* Chravis: You good? Matt: Nah Alright, this was only the beginning 25 seconds of the video, but as you can see they perfectly foreshadowed the rest of the video. The narrative for this arc of cherdleys is to continue life and to acknowledge uncertain feelings with the help of friends who will always be down to chill with you and talk through your issues. As you can see with Matt, the protagonist of the story, wants help but doesnt know how to approach his friend about his feelings, much like a lot of us who seek help but dont know where to start or who to ask. This episode of cherdleys seems a little absurd, but emotional turmoil is a real issue for a lot of people, especially the newer generation. We need to be like Chravis who will always be down to chill with our friends, switch spots for our friends, and mainly to just ask if they want to chill. I dont really know where im going with this. I just wanted to understand wtf was going on in the beginning cuz i always skip through it. I come back to this video and wait til they say your vibes off, but like this beginning throws me tf off
